BLOGMAS Days 19-25: Super fail but MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have been listening to Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour album for the past 3-4 days. No joke. I just kept repeating all 16 tracks. Why his voice like this? WHY! Giving me goosebumps all. Then I felt like crying, then the song ended, then I felt empty, then I repeated the song to get goosebumps and cry. Bah this Sam Smith... I hope he wins the Grammy Award for Album of the Year because come on man, this album is just solid. 

Most people think I'm this act-teenager adult who listens to nothing to K-Pop *rolls eyes*. Well at least they made it clear to me how narrow-minded and judgmental they are. Good for you! Doesn't mean that I don't listen to your indie, hipster songs as much (key words are "as much") means I'm less qualified as a person. *rolls eyes one more time* I applaud your straightforwardness but nope, not gonna hand you a plate of respect. I'm not saying I hate people who listen to such songs because that will make me one of them. I just absolutely despise people who judge others by their music tastes. Like that you sama sama with those super crazy religious people who says "my religion is better than yours" what. Yah, not as extreme, but you guys take the same bus of hypocrisy okay. If you don't like right, just keep quiet really. The world will be a better place when better words are said out loud. Freedom of speech? More like freedom of blabber. 

OKAY RANT OVER. See I so nice, dedicate one entire paragraph to people who hate my K-pop fangirl (fanwoman/fanlady/fanauntie) heart. Christmas - season of giving! I rarely rant in my blog about others ah, so just give me my one paragraph lah.

Blogmas started out strong for me, and then I got lazy and then I just ignored it completely for an entire week. Very sloth-like of me. Which is of course to be expected because I'm a human sloth. It's okay though, sloths are cute and zen. I will definitely like to be hanging off a tree branch and be cute and zen...and not care about super dark eye circles. 

So yes, this is a condensed Blogmas post - condense all 7 days into one post HAHA. 

We had a pre Christmas party at Eve's this year and we made popiahs! No extravagant meat dishes, just super nice popiahs. I made the mistake of putting way too much garlic and not rolling my popiah super tight, so I had to a messy "burrito" and ended with bad breath. I needed 3 Fisherman's Friends to get a somewhat decent-smelling breath back. 


Pre-ordered some PV cupcakes for the gang and they were delicious. One of the best cupcakes in Singapore!


I always look forward to gatherings at Eve's because I don't need to pretend to be anything I am not. Super chill, super nua, super awesome with amazing company. 

You know how towards the end of the year some people just give up on diets and just feast? Yeah, basically I'm now one of those people. I just eat, and eat, AND EAT. This muffintop ain't shredding, but whatever man, I will start on Ripped in 30 again when January comes. 

So the day after the gathering at Eve's, Kengyang and I went to PasarBella and just...ate. :D Here are some #foodporn shots. Disclaimer: we had a lot, A LOT, of meat. 





Shoutout to my damn cheapo Balenciaga-inspired (yah lah fake one) crossbody bag. I met my auntie today for breakfast and the first thing she said was "fei, your bag from Balenciaga?". I would really like the real thing, but I can't bring myself to spend that much money on a tiny little thing. I'd rather spend the money on food. I'm too much of a glutton to be buying branded bags. 


Also visited Kengyang's parents' new condo at Rosewood. This place looks nothing like Singapore. So empty and peaceful! I love the crowded, noisy Singapore, but this was a pleasant change too. 


So yes, my Christmas has been kind of a roller coaster ride (disastrous at home and joyous outside, but let's not go there). There goes 2014! A lot has happened in a year, and I'm looking forward to the new year. Work harder, earn more, save more, move out faster, eat more, exercise more, sleep more, date more. 

Merry Christmas my lovely readers! :) I'm not a consistent blogger when it comes to blogposts, but I'm glad I still have loyal readers who appreciate my writing. I used to be afraid of writing my posts this way - people judge me for being too ahlian and anyhow how? - but you know, I think writing this way makes me more comfortable and it's as if I'm speaking to y'all instead of just writing stuff. I enjoy blogging more this way! Thank you very much for reading my super not-atas and not chim posts!

BLOGMAS Day 18: Zalora Christmas Dresses Haul

So they gave me a VIP 20% off coupon code. On top of that, it was Thursday (Mastercard Thursdays 10% off!). I didn't go all crazy, just bought two dresses and I think they are also wearable for non-Christmas occasions. Sometimes I want to get super glittery dresses with sequins and all that jazz, but I can only wear those dresses once or twice? Might as well get dresses that I can wear on more occasions right? 

I think halter neck tops are very flattering for girls with wide shoulders. I have really wide shoulders and thick arms, hence I look much fatter than I really am in baggy tops. Halter neck tops give that illusion of narrower shoulder and if you have nice shoulders, they really accentuate those areas. Ah can't wait to pick them up at the Pop Station nearest to my house. 

Oh! Have I mentioned how freaking awesome and convenient Pop Stations are? You just opt for pick-up at a Pop Station nearest to your house and everything's done within 4 days. If you don't like what you buy, just return the product in its original condition with the given documents and tag, and place it in one Pop Station box. All will also processed within a week! Super convenient lor!

Zalora is really making online shopping much more fuss-free. That's how online shopping should be! Let's hope more local sites offer such services soon!

BLOGMAS Day 17: Quick Review - Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Treatment Concealer

Maybelline has been on point with their recent beauty launches. My favourite of the year has got to be the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Treatment Concealer. I don't think this concealer is available in Singapore. I heard so, so, SO many youtubers going on and on about how amazing this tube of goodness is. Like that of course must get my hands on it, correct or not?? So when Eve went to USA for holiday, I asked her to help me get one. Thank you Eve for getting me this concealer because it is MEGA AMAZING. I love how fast my dark circles were covered and how bright those areas become. 


I also love how this product is a Treatment concealer. The idea of a concealer concealing and also treating dark circles is pure genius. But whether or not it really treats, that's for someone else to investigate. I am just happy with how well this product worked in concealing my dark circles.

The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Treatment Concealer also blends super easily. You don't need to tug and pull your under eye areas - slight dabbing motions would do the trick.


Yes, here's a demonstration of how awesome the product is. I'm currently reserving this concealer for out-of-office days. So that's like days when I meet clients or during the weekends. I don't want to use it daily because I don't to use it all up :(


This concealer has been a life-saver and I definitely will stock up when I get the chance. Maybelline Singapore, bring this product in leh....

BLOGMAS Day 16: Quick Review - Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner in 01 Black

This week has been mad! I started work way too early from Monday-Thursday and I only 15-20 minutes for lunch this week. We're really busy now that we have a huge client onboard and one of my researcher colleague was on vacation, hence it was a crazy factory lah. Churning out so many fixes and new features, handling so many projects (both Asian and European) and answering panicky phone calls. Fortunately, the week has come to an end and I can't wait for the weekend to start!

That also means I can continue on my BLOGMAS posts. I have been stuck on Day 15 and that's no bueno. So I'm determined to write 4 posts tonight! I'm going to adjust the posting date to suit the BLOGMAS day though, so that it seems like I posted once every day. :P

This post is all about my other favourite eyeliner - the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner in 01 Black. My all time favourite eyeliner is the Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner. It's my go-to eyeliner for those days when I pressed the snooze button too many times because of how easily it applies. The Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner is reserved for those days when I have more time doing my makeup (hence more brain cells allocated for concentration).

You can get the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner at Watsons easily or if you want to get them online, Luxola sells them for S$22.90.




Ingredients list
The brush that came bundled with the eyeliner is actually quite decent. I use it to apply the eyeliner and it's a well-designed brush, great for picking up the product and then applying it smoothly and consistently. The brush is also designed to allow drawing of a thicker line or a thinner line - whichever you fancy. Just turn the brush to the correct side - thinner line require the thinner side of the brush, thicker line means using the wider side of the brush. Nice!


The Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner is packaged in a way that it's 60% packaging and 40% product. Look at how thick thick the glass part of the packaging is?!

But it's fine though - many high end brands also design their gel lines this way and they cost way, way more. Also, if you use gel liner often, you will realise that the more product you have does not mean you get more use out of it. Gel liners dry up very quickly, especially if you use it daily. You keep opening and closing the cover and you expose the product to the air more often, hence it dries up much quicker. Therefore, if you have more product, you have the tendency to waste more.

So yes, this is one of the few scenarios in which getting less product can have a positive outcome.




The Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner applies beautifully and one brush stroke can give you an uninterrupted line on your eyelids. Very impressive!

Every time I apply this gel liner, I don't have the problem of it drying too quickly and then flaking when I use apply a second line on top. Very irritating you know when that happens - you get strange black flakes on the upper cheeks and some may get inside your eyes. This one is awesome and none of that happened.



This gel liner lasts a long long long time without smudging or moving around from the oily lids. The longest I had this eyeliner on was perhaps for more than 20 hours?! I was staying over at a friend's house and we didn't sleep at all. I was shocked when this eyeliner stayed put the next morning. 

See how precise you can be with the brush in the photo below? I love this eyeliner a lot. The only downside will be that I need more time whenever I use the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner. Need to focus man, if not confirm look like a mess. 



Such a good eyeliner from a drug store brand. I have tried the Bobby Brown gel liner before and I can confirm that this one is as good! Great job, Maybelline!!

BLOGMAS Day 15: H&M rings are so affordable!!

Why is H&M offering so many way-too-affordable accessories? Like a set of rings for S$2.90?! Initially, I stepped into H&M hoping to get a nice shift dress, but I stepped out with no apparels, but with hair clips and a truck of rings. 

I have 10 fingers, but I ain't wearing one or two rings at any one time. I love stacking them rings and sometimes I slotted way too many until I had to remove all of them before I could type properly and comfortable at work. One reason why I love rings is because .... my fingers are the only body parts of mine that fit a size S. :D Strange hor? But yes, I have very strange fingers. I think when I lose weight, I lose the most from my fingers. I have rings from years back that are way too big now. 

H&M now is my go-to place for rings! 

The first two buys were random - I wanted to add a little bit of youthfulness to my daily blah and grim outfits. In the end, I picked bows in blah and grim colours. HAHA can you imagine me with a bright yellow bow on my head? No man, nooooo. 


From here on, some of you may see me as a ring-hoarder/finger-overaccessoriser/a girl who can't be bothered with her nails, but yes those are extremely accurate portrayals. I have way too many rings and I'm not stopping because wahlao super chio and make me happy then okay liao lah.

The 5 sets of rings below cost me less than S$22 in total. Very good!

BLOGMAS Day 13+14: One more week to my vacation!

I am cheating - two BLOGMAS posts in one. 
Blogging daily really can be quite draining. Especially when you go home from work and you're already so fatigued, but you still have to blog. Those who blog daily - NI HEN LI HAI! PEI FU! (Eng: You are too good! Salute!)

This weekend passed way too quickly. I wanted to have a nice stay-in Saturday but I had to go back to work for HDB stuff + clearing of undone tasks. So, my Saturday nua-ing plans went "kaput". Today, I had to go to HDB Hub to clear the first payment (5% down!). I have wiped almost 50% of my CPF and it's time to work even harder! 

Tomorrow I'm going in really early - like 730am early - to complete more undone tasks. I just hope I can leave at 6pm on the dot so that I can sleep really early. Yah, my weekdays super boring nowadays. Really cannot wait for my vacation to start.

There's this new feature that allows you to increase the sizes of your iris and pupils. I looked like a joke. That new feature also proved to me that I couldn't really pull off the circle lens look. 


This filter is excellent. I should adopt this permanently. Look at how nice my hair is!?!??!?!

And this was a really lackluster blogpost full of nothing but fluff. Let's hope work is manageable next week so that I can blog about way more interesting things.

BLOGMAS Day 12: Taobao "12.12" Haul

Today's post is a short and sweet one. Work has been rather cruel, but life is made more fulfilling and satisfying when you overcome adversity. 

A quick and sudden swerve back to today's post - I have submitted (yes, another one) a Taobao order and this time it was for their 12.12 sale. Seriously, every day can be sales day. 1.1, 2.2, 3.3, 4.4, 5.5, 6.6, 7.7, 8.8, 9.9 10.10, 11.11, 12.12. All 365 days also can. 

But got sales cannot complain, so yes, hauling time!

BLOGMAS Day 11: Finally a date at Sunday Folks!

Want to go Sunday Folks, of course go on Sunday right? 
Kengyang and I wanted to have a date here since a couple of months ago and finally we made it to Sunday Folks on a Sunday! For those going, beware of the crowd - try to come as early as possible. We were there at noon and we had to wait a couple of minutes for our table. After that, the queue just gets longer and longer... 

I think Sunday Folks can rival Hanare in terms of most Instragrammed food in Singapore. I'm not sure what the real statistics are but I've been seeing SO MANY Sunday Folks posts on my Instagram feed. 

Most of the time, food that are easy on the eyes, are not that tasty. But wah, Sunday Folks has AMAZING cakes and their waffle+icecream combo is just perfect. Sunday Folks is a perfect example of a cafe perfecting and serving just a few items on the menu. They do what they do best and focus on that. Some cafes really need to learn from them man. I've been to new cafes in which I was basically served food that I could make on own at home (and sometimes I felt like I could better dishes than them) and then I was charged more than S$20. Please lor, you can attract first-time customers with your avant garde decor, but you are not getting long-term customers, and that's why cafes are popping up like cray, and also closing down like cray. 

I really enjoyed my two hours with Kengyang at Sunday Folks. The food was good and both of us were in great mood because the food was so good. The decor was also social-media-worthy and overall, it felt like we were on a vacation in some European cafe that served kickass desserts. Even the simple black coffee had a kick and aiyah I really enjoyed my time there lah. Can't wait to go back!!


We ordered the Sticky Toffee Cake  with salted caramel sauce and this was so dense and moist, with the right amount of sweetness. SIMPLY DIVINE. I would definitely try the Matcha cake the next time I'm there!


Of course must order waffles with ice cream also. We chose Earl Grey Lavender for our ice cream and it was life changing man. It was the first time I really tasted lavender in a lavender ice cream. yah I know very strange, but sometimes they say "oh yes, lavender ice cream", but then you just taste vanilla ice cream with a little bit purple food colouring. This one is legit. Can't wait to try Seasalt Gula Melaka!!!

I think the staff in Sunday Folks take pride in what they do. There was this guy who was extremely obsessed with how his ice cream tip turned out. I think he was new and another girl was teaching him how to churn out the perfect-looking ice cream, but he couldn't get it and he was soooooo pissed off at himself haha. His ice cream looked okay lah, just that it wasn't as nice as the girl's (the girl was in charge of our waffles! So yes, this was supposed to be the model "ice cream tip"). Every single time he served a customer, he would glance back and observe their reactions. I even heard him say to his colleague exasperatedly that "my tip not nice leh! I cannot get it, aiyoh!". Kengyang and I kept smiling and it's a great thing - you have to take pride in what you do and perfect your skills! Applies to everything in life lah.

So yes, Sunday Folks is one of the best cafes that I've been to and I definitely will encourage my friends and my readers to go and try! :)

BLOGMAS Day 10 Luxola Haul - Great products for oily, troubled skin!

Three weeks ago, I bought two skincare products from Luxola because they had a mega sale. After using them for three weeks, I think they work effectively on my oily and acne-prone skin.

I'm most amazed by how well the Rachel K Cosmetics Midnight Miracle performed. This product is specially formulated for oily and irritated skin, and it promises to detoxify and soothe the skin to even out the skin tone and regenerate the skin cells. Daily use will help to decrease shine and the redness in your skin. For me, I use this once every two days. The formulation is too rich to be used daily. Initially when I used it daily the first three days, all was good, but after that small spots started appearing around my nose and upper lip area. I quickly switched to a once-every-two-days routine, and the small spots slowly disappeared. The best part about this product is that the term "Midnight Miracle" in the product name is not loosely used - it really is a midnight miracle! I have a lot of redness around my nose and jawline (because of all my acne scars and all that fun stuff), but just after ONE NIGHT, the redness was visibly reduced in the morning. I was definitely not expecting this, so that was a great pleasant surprise! Moreover, this product is only S$29! I love this and it's now a staple in my skincare routine.

The Mario Badescu Special Mask for Oily Skin is not as amazing though. It definitely does what it claims to do, but it's quite harsh on the skin. This product is most ideal for excessively oily and congested skin. It claims to control surface oil and in the long run, prevents pimples and blackheads. I use this twice a week and only my super oily T-Zone areas. For those with dry to combination skin, I suggest you stay away from this product because it is extremely drying. It's okay for me though because I definitely skin that's way too oily. The only discomfort that I felt during every session was that whenever the mask had dried up and I accidentally smiled/laughed, the mask would crack and I would start to feel tingly, pierce-y (is that even a word??) sensations. It's like telling me - hey, I have completely dried up, so RINSE ME AWAY!!

Overall, I do think that there was an improvement in the oiliness state of my skin, however there's still a huge room for more improvement. Skincare products cannot fully eliminate the crazy oiliness on my skin - I'm quite sure what I consume and my hormones contribute to this too. Can't wait for the day when I don't need to blot my skin 3-4 hours from the last cleansing.

BLOGMAS Day 9: Current favourite Blogilates videos

It's BLOGMAS day 9!! Time flies man, time flies!! 16 more days to Christmas. WOW?! Luckily, I'm done with Christmas shopping. Can't wait to give them all out! 

Anyway, I'm sharing my current two favourite workout videos from Blogilates. I have two main concerns - the flabby arms and the muffin top. So, I have been looking for suitable workout videos online, but the problem is most of them involve so much movement! I know right, super diva all, want to get rid of flabby parts but don't want to move too much. But hey, it's possible and I found two videos from blogilates that seemed easy at first, but what the freak my muscles were so sore the next day. 

My current workout routine is either a 30-min jog + 2 "6 Min to Sexy Arms" videos + 2 "Muffintop Shredder" videos, or just 3 arms + 3 muffin top videos. Of course, I will switch it up every now and then when I get bored of the same routine - I'll just add in more blogilates videos! 

These days, whenever it's my apply-clay-mask day, I would do 2 "6 Min to Sexy Arms" videos while waiting for the mask to dry. Confirm feel like a superwoman! 



Anyway, the Blogmas posts are not going as smoothly as I thought they would be. Work has been crazy busy and I'm trying my best to stay sane and cheery. Can't wait for my long leave to start! 24 December, faster come!! :D

It has been a day full of unexpected events. I don't know whether to celebrate the victory I had at the beginning of the day or reflect on the near-perdition I experienced towards the end of the day. One thing is extremely clear though - this day has more loops, twists and turns than the world's scariest roller coaster. No kinetic or potential energy can explain this unscientific adrenaline rush (adrenaline rush here can mean good or bad things). 

Well, we learn everyday, don't we?

BLOGMAS Day 7: Ma Maison (Anchorpoint) with Mr Chung!

Mr Chung is doing his reservist next week and I'm very sad, but a man has to do what he has to do so I shall not complain. A woman also has to do what she has to do, and so I shall continue shopping for Christmas presents :D 

Also, we are going to make our first HDB payment next Sunday and I'm both excited and sian. Yay, got HDB! But wahlao CPF empty again. I hope I get a decent pay rise next year *fingers crossed*. 

Both of us dined at Anchorpoint's Ma Maison and it was a delightful experience as usual. I don't really need to read the menu or look at their special seasonal menu because I don't bother ordering other things. I order French Onion Soup and Beef Stroganoff with Omurice EVERY SINGLE TIME. Too good already. 


Kengyang ordered the special seasonal ginger pork set. It was good, but ...

... NOT AS NOMS AS MINE. This is the best Omurice man, the egg is so soft and smooth, and the butter rice inside is extremely fragrant. Don't ask me how to describe the beef stroganoff - I'm not a food blogger and I cannot give you bombastic descriptions for how good it is. I can only give you "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm". 


Aiyah so gian, I want to eat this again. :S But we just had Sunday Folks (best waffles ever?! photos coming soon!) and now I'm in food coma. It's also raining heavily outside - the most appropriate condition for napping while in food coma. Bye! zzzzz.

BLOGMAS Day 6: Review - Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R and Spot Essence W

For new readers, a quick background of my skin type and condition - I have oily, acne-prone skin and it gets worse when I'm under stress. My acne usually sprouts (lol) at the jawline and upper-lip areas - a condition diagnosed as Google doctor as "hormonal acne". I also believe I'm in that awkward hormones-bo-balance stage (or in proper English, hormonal imbalance) so my body is rebelling and as a result my skin is not cooperating as well. Before I hit my 20s, I barely had pimples. :( I miss those days so much. 

This is why I'm always on the search for anti-acne skin products, and recently I trust South Korean brands more because they are less harsh and works as effectively as the usual spot treatment creams with benzoyl peroxide/salicylic acid. I loved the Etude House AC Clinic line and I was eager to try out other popular South Korean brands that offer an anti-acne skincare line. 

I was on Qoo10 one day (like which day am I not on Qoo10 right? HAHA) and a store selling Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble products had a time sale so I jumped at the chance! I bought both the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R and Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W for less than S$30 - a steal considering how each can go up to S$30+ in the local brick and mortar stores. 


Packaging: I really love the choice of colour for the outer packaging. This minty green colour is the perfect colour for an anti-trouble line! Words are in white instead of black, which gives it a more soothing and professional. I know, I'm looking way too much into their packaging, but this is how customers like me are intrigued to try anti-trouble products. The cleaner, less busy, more soothing and more professional the outer packaging, the more I feel like I can trust this product.


A full-sized Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R has 15ml of product, while a full-sized Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W has 30ml of product. This makes a lot of sense since both products are supposed to be used differently -

  • The Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R is for more serious breakouts - especially those that are extremely irritated or painful. 
  • The Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W is to soothe and treat bumpy skin (i.e. minor spots that don't hurt). 
A little bit of the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R is good enough for a really enraged pimple, hence the 15ml of product is more than sufficient. On the other hand, the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W can be applied on more areas, hence you will use this up faster than the R product - 30ml is reasonable. 





Starting with the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R:

For this product, you are instructed to use a cotton swab to apply the product on desired areas - you definitely don't want to transfer more bacteria onto your erupting painful mess by using your fingers!






On the other hand, the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W can be applied as per normal - after cleansing, toning and moisturising.



Product texture/consistency:

  • the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R has a thick green consistency that dries off into powder after blending. The green colour also helps to hide the redness around the acne. 
  • the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W feels more like a lightweight moisturiser that applies very well under makeup. 
Therefore, I will suggest that you use Spot Essence R at night before bed since it will leave a greenish tinge on your skin, and you can use Spot Essence W in the mornings before makeup.

Do these work as claimed?

  • the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R is marvellous. It dries up the pimple within a day and after 3 days, you have your flat surface again. The best thing is once you apply this on an incredibly painful area, the pain gradually goes away and you don't feel the pain after half a day. I really hate it when pimples are painful - most of my pimples are around my mouth area, and it affects how I smile. Like smile already, then damn pain, so sad right?? 
  • the Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W, on the other hand, is just an average product. It's targeted towards minor spots that don't hurt and so it's not as obvious whether it is effective or not. I have used this for a more than 2 months on such areas, and I don't really see a difference in my skin condition. The good thing is those areas remained as they are in the 2 months, no new spots, and none of the spots evolved to face demons. 
Will I buy these again? I'll definitely purchase Innisfree Jejubija Anti-Trouble Spot Essence R again, but not the Spot Essence W
