the year's ending.

I promise this will be the last haul post of the year. Not that difficult since 2010 is a couple of days away.

However I do want to reflect on 2009, so that will be done at the end of this post. Satisfy the hunger of fellow shopaholics first.

Finally met up with 25/07 people! Not many turned up but nevertheless a good gathering. We ate at my favourite Thai Express again! =)

Outfit of the day

I was supposed to roam Bugis with horny hui but she fell sick so I went alone! HAHA. I got what I wanted and left for Bukit Panjang Plaza to meet Junyi and Lenny, and then dinner with Lenny, Xueyi, Jeremy and Ama!

Results was a bittersweet affair. On one hand, I have no Cs, on the other hand, I'm average. With 204 next semester, all I can hope for is the chance to use s/u on challenging electives. And I did worst on my most enjoyable module, French Level 1. WTF.

I bought heels! I bought a size bigger and that was a smart move because it fits quite well. This is super comfy. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

What I got today - the magical offerings to sound the very much wounded spirit and ego. LOL.

Cotton On high-waist skirt for 10 bucks. Cotton On has crazy sales now. I saw a pair of black sequinned converse-type sneakers, but decided not to get it because the sequins looked like they were about to fall out anytime. =.=

Random: somebody spilled milk tea and ran away! WALAO EH! At least tell the staff mar!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG
HOMG
ZOMG!

Yes, I finally acquired my super chio blazer. THE PRICE IS TO DIE FOR! Dorothy Perkins perhaps is really for bigger sized girls, because I'm normally a UK12, but I fit into UK10 for all their clothing items, even the most hardly-fit polo tees! I even fit into uk8 for one of their high-waist skirt. NICE. =)

See the bling bling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG. I'm super excited now. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to resew all the buttons, because I don't want them falling apart. Although I know they won't but JUST IN CASE.

Look at the fantastic price. LOOK AT IT! muahahahahahahahaha.

FYI: there were other types of blazers for 39 bucks too, but this was the most out of the world. The rest looked too serene after I saw this. =) There was a sequin vest for 39. ORH! jeans for 29 bucks, but small sizes left. I think, none of the sales item at Dorothy Perkins was above 39 bucks. Topshop was rather blah though. Nice cropped top for 39, sequin pullover for 39, most blazers 89 and up. Topman was good! GO GET SOME MAN LOVE AT TOPMAN! =)

I also got this because it was blue, and I didn't have a blue shirt. and because it was pretty. HAHA. Cheap also! =)

I bought this for my sister, because TODAY IS HER 13TH BIRTHDAY!!! =)
Happy birthday Isabel Lim!

She kinda sian diao when I suddenly took a photo. HAHAHAHA.

On hindsight, 2009 has been rather kind with me. My share of tumultuous experiences had lessened and I have more opportunities to live life a little slower and less hectic.

2009 was the year that I turned a Permanent Resident of Singapore. Something rather significant to me because of monetary purposes (university fees, working, etc) and because I wanted to be a part of Singapore. Call me cheesy, but I recited the pledge in primary school; the sole foreigner to have done that in a class half-filled with foreigners. Also, I certainly know the words to the national anthem more than some Singaporeans. I have loved and lived in Singapore for 12 years, and being a PR is just another gift Singapore has reciprocated back to me. Next year will be the year I turned 21, the year in which I will decide whether or not to become a Singapore citizen. Although I want to, but as said by my grandma "no matter where you roam or where you create trouble in, your homeland is where you belong to and will come back for shelter." My home is Singapore, my homeland is Indonesia.

2009 was also the year that I started working to earn my own income. Being a retail assistant was not simple, neither was it a peaceful job. Behind those smiles that greet you when you walk into retail shops are painful hours and hours of packing and repacking. Internal politics were just another addition to this occupation. I was lucky enough to have quit before the eruption occured. To summarise the incident: a retail assistant was really discontent with her supervisor, and so she brought her gang friends to stop by the shop and create a mess, leaving the other retail assistants with alarmed gazes and nothing more. Then I was offered a full-time job at a tuition centre, supposedly an admin assistant. The first couple of weeks were manageable, I was marking compositions, typing out worksheets and attending to the tutees. However, my jobscope then expanded to cleaning up, typing out bible verses (93 pages of Word document!) and other miscellaneous items. After 2 months, my back was killing me. I reported to work with yokoyoko plasters on my back. On the third month, I decided to quit. Since it was already in June, I thought school would start soon and I should enjoy myself. I did enjoy myself, the bank account didn't like the self-granted holiday though.

2009, the year I discovered my love for cosmetics and fashion. This is a relationship I want to keep long-lasting and strong. The love is exponential. In secondary school, I applied foundation to school in secondary 4. Then I applied it EVERYDAY in JC. After the As, I was so bored and I was introduced to YouTube Makeup Gurus, and since then I was hooked. I have to wake up much earlier now to prepare and I am not complaining because I enjoy it. All I have to say is the saying of "there's no ugly woman, only lazy woman" becomes much more reasonable and less cliched after I discovered the wonders of cosmetics. Fashion, on the other hand, has always been my love since young. However, the uniform system halts my creativity and also I had no money to invest in my love for fashion. As soon as I started earning, I realised my love for fashion has become a yearning for a career in fashion. I want to work in the beauty/fashion industry and I thank 2009 for allowing me to rediscover my passion.

2009 - the start of university life. Making new friends, creating new cliques, studying new subjects, adapting to new environment and living in a new space. The year I went to the most awesome FOC ever. The year I met my awesome roomie, Jo Quek. The year I made strong bonds with great friends from Pavarotti. The year I had a newfound loathing towards ATs. University life has certainly blessed me with many new patches of greenery. Amidst all these, I struggled through the examinations. I had a record number of migraine attacks. All that equated to an enjoyable experience in NTU WKWSCI. I thank my friends for making my first semester much more liveable. I still cannot forget how I was conned into believing that my angel gave me birthday presents. (WILSONG!) This group of friends is the group that I know I will have lasting friendships with. =)

Not forgetting, 2009 was also the year that most of my guy friends report for NATIONAL SERVICE. Every week, I waited for Friday so that I can catch up with some of them. Their lives inside had been less than fulfilling (or at least, that's what they said) and so I let them about NS without complaining about it taking up 99% of the conversation. Life's sad for them and so they need to vent. Let's hope the upcoming year will be a much more tolerable one for them!

Tomorrow's the day! Countdown at Wilsong's house and I'm excited! Wang's gonna cook Thai food and the proposed menu sounds really yummy. Cannot wait! =)

and..

just yesterday i said I would stop shopping.

Dorothy Perkins killed the spirit.

Who can resist a sequin-shouldered blazer at 39 bucks when it was previously 189 bucks?

I told michelle I would get it if my gpa is 3.8 and above. God indeed wants me to buy the blazer.

Let's hope the blazer's still there tomorrow! *excited*

hilarious prediction

This is from some website I was redirected to from Facebook:

Snake in the January 2010

Bravo for having survived the crush of the 2009 holiday season. I know it wasn't your favorite time of the past Ox year. But here comes a month made just for you languid Snakes who enjoy staying cozy under the covers reading good books and drinking exotic teas. During this final month and a half of the Earth Ox year, you can literally bask under a down comforter and wax philosophical. There should not be huge demands made on your energies and that is precisely the way you like it. Your love life promises to be rather placid and even peaceful at this time. The person you are attached to adores you and caters to your every whim. You thrive when treasured for your beauty and sense of style. A few snags might come along in the form of aches and pains or skin eruptions you were not expecting. Instead of taking painkillers, investigate alternative therapies. You may be suffering from an excess of a certain food to which you are allergic. An unfortunate female family member has been much on your mind lately. You wish you could assist her in some way. But your hands are tied. You have your own personal commitments to deal with and cannot spare either money or lodging for this cousin or sibling or aunt. If you are contemplating plastic surgery, this is a good time to begin researching the matter. Be certain to get solid references and advice from people who have "been there done that" with excellent results. It's January. Chill.

I told you it was hilarious.

  1. I'm quite happy it's a month that I can chillax in, but I don't drink exotic teas. However, I'm that atas you know. HAHA.
  2. Placid/peaceful love life: boring.
  3. My lover will cater to my every whim. Problem is, I have no lover. Perhaps Johnny Depp will fly all the way to Singapore and ditch Vanessa for me? HAHA.
  4. Instead of taking painkillers, explore other alternatives. Panadol is truly not working on me anymore. I need alternatives. Definite.
  5. Cannot spare money/lodging to sibling/cousin/aunt. Maybe that refers to DA YI MA, where she will come, and I will reject, and so I will have a period-less month. YES.
  6. Plastic surgery. Even the Gods think i'm in dire need of liposuction. OH NOOOO!

Just random stuff. HAHA.

restrictions

I have a dark-coloured hair. I miss black hair. =) So I went ahead with dark red. It will lighten gradually, but as of now, I love the colour! =)

I have to restrict myself regarding online shopping!

I have 15 new pieces of apparel.
I have 4 pairs of new shoes.
I have a lot of new cosmetics.
I NEED TO STOP!

ok. NO MORE ONLINE SHOPPING THIS WEEK! NO MORE!

yao bu yao?

Should I dye my hair again.
I was liking the red, and it faded. knnbccb.

doomed

As we crowned Sezairi the new Singapore Idol,
as we hear cries of excitement from Malay neighbours,
as we see people in pink looking down in disappoinment,
as we observe the amount of disgust and anger on Facebook,
as we blame Malays for the ridiculous results,

have you realised, it's your fault too?

NEVER VOTE THEN HOW SHE WIN!

It's not a matter of race, it's a matter of supporting your favourite singer. I don't think Sylvia has less supporters than Sezairi, it's just the amount of money they are willing to spend that differs.

Malays = support their man through and through (admirable)
Chinese = spend money on 4d/toto/other gambling means (tsk tsk tsk)
Indians = never came into the picture.

This can spark off a racial riot.
But let's face it, at least he CAN sing. not that well, but ordinariness makes room for more improvement!

Sylvia, I will buy your albums!

As I said, it's not a matter of race.

i just like spamming photos.

I am back again with a truckload full of photos to annoy you. These days have been really busy and though I'm quite fatigued, the company and merriment have quite surely clouded the negativity.

2009 is ending. 2009 is definitely the year of surprises and much more. I anticipate the arrival of 2010 with much excitement and I hope everyone had a blasted Christmas!

I watched Sherlock Holmes with mao and Lohla before going for Christmas celebration at Shang's house.

I am not impressed by the movie as a whole. If you cut it up into snippets and show me bits and pieces every now and then, then I may think of it as an intriguing movie. However, putting it altogether deteriorates the wholesomeness of the movie. So much so that I was dreading the movie halfway and wanted it to end as soon as possible.

Don't get me wrong, the movie is very clever. But, you are watching Sherlock Holmes, so you can expect nothing less.

I think the biggest reason of why I was disappointed with this movie was the high expectations that I equated it with. As abovementioned, a movie about Sherlock Holmes requires nothing less but a brilliant mind, hence the tactics used in the movie to reveal how Sherlock Holmes go about solving his crimes are a tad too ordinary.

Oh well, but I like one part. Not the part where Robert Downey Jr is naked with a pillow covering his -cuckoo-; the part whereby bombs rained on the 3 main characters as they left the abattoir. Very clever, Mr Guy Ritchie.

Be warned though, for those who really has a problem with English Language, I'd rather you choose another movie because they talk REALLY fast.

On a random note:

I MISS KANGKONG!

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION AT SHANG'S HOUSE
24TH DECEMBER 2009

JEREMY'S BELATED BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
25TH DECEMBER 2009

Outfit of the day!
Lenny! I really love love the necklace! =)

We went to Blooie's after cake-cutting ceremony (lol). Food is not cheap here, but I really couldn't resist the caesar salad, so I ordered one, and it cost me 13.90 (ouch!). Chicken, dry. The best thing about it: the olives, the worst thing about it: where's my anchovies??

LECKY'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
26TH DECEMBER 2009

Thanks naiba for the chocolates! As of now, I'm left with one. HAHA.

We had fun in Cold Storage. HAHA.

Thai Express has definitely become my favourite restaurant! =) being a member is NICE! Rebates for every visit! =)

Christmas Presents!!

Got this cap from the gift exchange at Shang's house. It was really hilarious how everyone chanted mao's name everytime a person needed to pick a name from the can because NOBODY wanted his photo album. HAHA.

Christmas + birthday presents from LILY!
Thanks love! =)

She gave me A LOT of stuff. Reviews for most of them at the end of this post!

Lenny bought this from Japan! CHIO! =) I have been wearing it for the past 3 days! =)

Christmas cards from Nigel and Pohchoon (mao's card somewhere in cabinet, paiseh hor mao!)
I know my address is there, but oh well I hope the security guards can protect my house. HAHA.

Make-up Reviews

Majolica Majorca eyeshadow

Very very glittery. Suitable for the festive season! =) I used the white cream shadow as a base for the powder shadows. Pigmentation-wise, it's not bad. One word of advice though, I think wearing the lightest powder shade as a brow highlighter will be too OTT; as I have tried today and I looked like I poured myself with glitter.

But otherwise, nice glittery neutrals. Ah F it, I'm going to use it for school also. =)

Clinique Allover Colour in 01 Peony

Colours: 1st: mixed, 2nd: blush colour, 3rd: highlight colour

I love this blush. I have a problem with powder blushers because most of the time, the colour will fade after 3 or 4 hours, therefore I always make sure I have cream blusher first, then the powder blusher. With this, I see a difference! I wore it out yesterday with no cream blusher and when I reached home (around 6 hours later), my cheeks still looked flushed!

This really tempts me to get more colours.
Me and blushers: love and hate relationship

Rimmel STAY MATTE Pressed Powder

This is best used as a mattifying powder, and not as a foundation powder. Coverage is sheer, and applying with a sponge will make your face look cakey. Therefore, usage of a brush is recommended. This is more suitable as those powder that you keep in your makeup bag and use to reduce the oily factor at any time of the day.

NYX eyeshadow set for Brown Eyes

With flash

Without flash

My favourite colours are the 2nd top colour from the left and the left most colour on the bottom row.

The green looks really funky. =)

I have seen this palette on Youtube everywhere, and Lily was so nice to give one to me! I'm quite amazed with this product. Very pigmented and when applied, they have less fall-outs than Coastal Scents palettes.

I am going to scour the net for more palettes. =)

Maybelline GREAT LASH in Blackest Black

I don't know where to start with this mascara.
Hmm.

It's bad.

After I curled my lashes, I applied this, and it just weighed my lashes down, making them looking straight again. The curved brush is not helpful in reaching in to small lashes at all. I have a habit of applying 2-3 coats of mascara. With this, my lashes looked as if 7 bundles of hair were growing out of my eyes. Not glamorous at all.

But I will use it to finish it. Maybe as a first coat or something, in the hope of deluding self that this is a mascara base instead of a blah mascara.

My pay came in on the 25th, and I have been spending. Oh man.

Topshop is having Warehouse Sales from now till 8th Feb 2010 at Wing Tai. ooh la la.

extremely photo-heavy post.

Before I dwell on the extremely sinful yet delightful trip to Kuala Lumpur, I shall do a short review for The Fourth Kind - I won free preview tickets to the movie, and I went with Junyi! It will be out on 31st December 2009

It is similar to Paranormal Activity, but the similarity stops only at subtle horror and actual footages from a video camera.

The directing was much more spectacular than Paranormal Activity, with breathtaking sceneries from Nome, Alaska. In addition, Milla Jovovich's participation in the movie will attract audiences much more than two nobodies.

Plot: a psychologist, Dr Tyler, encounters patients who had cases of sleeping difficulty, especially at 2.30 to 3am. She uses hypnotism on them, and she gets deeper into the case and experiences the incidences herself, with her daughter supposedly being abducted by the "aliens"

Whether or not the story is true is another matter, because the addition of snippets of real footages/videos/audios from the actual Dr Tyler herself (Milla Jovovich is just portraying the character because the real Dr Tyler is currently paralysed and in a deteriorating state) made the whole movie much more intriguing.

The movie ended with the case largely unsolved. Not for those who cannot appreciate movies like Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project.

Pointers:
  • there's an owl involved, and it's freaking me out
  • the alien talks in a language supposedly the oldest ancient language around
  • the alien thinks it is god
  • the real Dr Tyler is freaky too, she has pale skin and extremely large eyes. shudder
  • I jumped during the climax because Junyi elbowed me on purpose. THAT CHIBAIKIA. That will be my first and only time jumping while watching horror. NABEI!
  • SPI members came for the movie preview too. LOL.
  • Recommended from me!
Here's what I wore to the movie!

Guess who else I watched it with!
I was too preoccupied with the movie to put some paparazzi spirit into action. Next time!

KL trip with the HORNIES! =)
Me love the company!

I was on PAPARAZZI RADAR and so I captured many priceless shots during the trip. Kenneth was AWESOME because of his super horny quotes and his gaga-certified poses. HAHA.

My all-time favourite shot. =) Kenneth is awesome right? YAY FOR KENNETH!

Chay and Kok trying to take a photo of this HUGE OVERFED fly that was hovering around our dining table.

Spending the nights either trying to be prostitutes and assholes or massive HTHT-ing.

Eve's chio shoes. =)

Our chio, matching slippers! Kok and Eve got the turquoise ones, Chay the brown one and the purple pair is mine! The date has been decided, we are wearing them on first day of sem 2. =)

Kok's chio heels! We are such good friends. After looking at how nice she looked in the pair of heels, we just pushed her to buy it. HAHA. =) But its nice mar!

The Petronas Tower and my epic fail camera which refused to take the full length of the tower. GAH.

During this trip, I don't know how many random people came up to Chay to comment on her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-esque glasses and how nice it was. Me going to copy her and do a fluorescent pink one! HAHA!

YAY for extremely good company, "gorgeous" (quoted from Kenneth) food, awesome shopping and much laughter.

On a whole, I am fatter, poorer and very much happier. =)

Haul!
The most exciting part! =)

Mandom Cleansing Sebum. Around 40% cheaper than in Watsons Singapore. You gotta love Malaysia's Watsons.

My favourite cologne sprays from Indonesia and they were sold so cheap cheap-ly.

Silkygirl mascara - kinda random purchase since I wanted it for the longest time and so I got it.
In2it lipstick - VERY CHEAP. OMG.
ZA Pore Smoother - LILY this is for you! =)

The colour of the In2it lipstick. You gotta love peaches and nudes.

Garnier Aqua Defense Roll-On - about 8 bucks (!cheap!) ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!
Nivea Deodorant set - 7 RM. NICE!

Was very lucky. On 19th December they were still selling the December issue. On 21st December, the January issue came out! =)

Frankly speaking, Malaysia's CLEO is more ME because they love studs and sequins! =)

2 shirts for the 2 December baby boys! =)

This was RM30 from The Reject Shop. Nothing wrong about it though. HAHA. Retails for USD44

A cardigan from F.O.S. Bought it for RM39, retails for USD34.50, also nothing wrong with it. Hmmmm.

Bought together with the shirts above!

RM 25!

This got to be the most worth-the-money purchase. RM30 = SGD13++ for a faux leather jacket. AND IT FITS much more better than the previous one.

RM16. YES! =)

RM25

RM25
My favourite purchase of all. I just love prints!

RM 25

The chio blingblings!

RM79 at MNG.
I went to Shaw's MNG today and they were having the same sale, but I didn't see this shirt anywhere.

RM59
This was a buy one get one free purchase. I paid for these...

and I got this for my mom!
RM53 (free though. HAHA)

I know this is sold in Singapore as well, but obviously cheaper in Malaysia. HAHA.

My uniform beaded slippers. Sold in Singapore as well but we got it 5 bucks cheaper. HAHA. We were lucky. When we paid for the 4 pairs, one lady approached us and gave us her vouchers so we slashed RM20 off our total bill.

2 for RM 50

ANNNNDDD, I bought these online.
A BN F21 lace skirt for 20 dollars ONLY! =) nice.
And this zipper dress for 9 bucks!

I AM SO TIRED!
