Instagram madness

Worth Instagramming Outfits (3rd week of September)

I'm really late on my reviews, but another batch of sponsored masks are not in yet! I may need to extend my posting deadlines. Singpost, why do you do this to me!!!

In the meantime, take a look at my fashion ensembles for last week? I tried really hard to wear "nicer" things but I really blame the humidity for not being able to let my creative juices flow as they should. So many restrictions! Even wearing leggings can make me sweat. CRAZY. Can the monsoon season come knocking already?

Monday was my COM433 (Corporate Communication) team presentation and we were presenting a case study on JetBlue Airways, so naturally we opted for an all-blue team spirit. I went for the risky double-denim look but I always use the maxim that if the two denim pieces are in obviously different shades, then everything's fine.

Top: Cheap Monday
Shorts: Cotton On
Leggings: Talisman
Shoes: Dr Martens
Accessories: H&M/Bugis Street/Forever 21

Tuesday was FYP meeting day and the night before I had sudden DIY urges. I chopped off the sleeves of my sweater and also chopped off most of my REALLY OLD Lee's jeans.

In the end, I was rather satisfied with the whole outfit! :D

Top: Pearlmilktea
Shorts: Lee's (previously jeans)
Bag: GAP
Belt: New Look
Shoes: Dr Martens
Accessories: H&M/Hong Kong/Forever 21

I won myself a pair of ROMWE galaxy leggings a few weeks ago and I couldn't to wear them out! It's so rara so I need simple and fuss-free look to complete the look!

Top: H&M
Shorts: Forever 21
Leggings: ROMWE
Shoes: TOMS
Accessories: Talisman/Hong Kong/H&M

Another funky legging day. haha. I don't know how I came up with this messy outfit, but I kinda like it. Preppy but with a rebellious touch!

T-shirt: Cheap Monday
Blouse (worn inside): Cotton On
Leggings: New Look
Shoes: Dr Martens
Accessories: H&M

This week, I'm feeling lazy again. AIYAH. :(

Dinner at Pitchstop Cafe & Bar (NTU)

A few days ago, my FYP group members and I decided to have our meeting at the highly raved Pitchstop Cafe & Bar, which was located in Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Yes, it's in my university and I have never tried it before. So, of course I was incredibly hyped! I have heard so many good things about the place and yes, Pitchstop Cafe & Bar definitely did not disappoint! :D

I was really surprised that they serve tea by the jar for S$1.50. ONE FIFTY! THAT IS FREAKING CHEAP. The teas were all fragrant and of quality too! Excellent lah this Pitchstop!

Each of us got ourselves a set meal and they are all really affordable and noms-worthy. I cannot wait to go back for the Aglio Olio and Carbonara!

Konkon's Aglio Olio pasta. S$6 and overflowing with carbo. SO WORTH THE MONEY.

My fried fish & wedges @ S$10.50. I was really surprised at how this tasted much better than Botak Jones'. They spammed the tar-tar sauce too, which is of course very appreciated on my part. :D

Kokky's turkey bacon pizza @ S$10.50! The amazing thing about Pitchstop is how they have a wood-fired oven to make their pizzas extra authentic and delicious! Amazing dish, especially with the abundant throw of rocket leaves!

Jeremy's Americano Pizza @ S$10.50. This is like a classic that's done perfectly. AH PITCHSTOP I LOVE YOU! :D

I REALLY CAN'T WAIT FOR MY NEXT LUNCH/DINNER AT PITCHSTOP!! :D

How to get to Pitchstop (directions kop-ed from Pitchstop's facebook page haha):

-Bus Directions-

  • Board the train East-West Line towards Joo Koon Station and alight at Pioneer Station, 12 stops later.

  • Walk up the stairs leading to the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) - Innovation Centre Block 1.
  • Continue walking straight to the lobby and turn right to find Pitchstop!

Quick Review: Sephora Creamy Body Wash

I was given these cute little things as a birthday gift from Eve, Ron and Chay, and I must say I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

I have used Lemon Verbena and Strawberry, and they both smelled fantastic! I shall save the other 2 for travelling purposes (like perhaps the cruise trip that I'm going in December with kengyang's family. yikes so scary :S)!

Definitely highly recommend these body wash! :)

That Feeling - Rockin' Lifestyle and Beauty Blog

My amazing FYP mate, Hui Ling, and her best friend Tiffany started a new lifestyle and beauty blog - That Feeling - and you guys should TOTALLY check out their awesome posts.

If you want me to do a comparison, their blog is so much more sophisticated than mine. HAHA MINE IS TOO UNCOUTH! :D To each his own, and you guys should totally check out their blog for posts on their latest foodie hangouts and also for quirky website recommendations!!

Check out That Feeling here: http://candhl.blogspot.sg/

Also, thank you Hui Ling (I finally remembered that her name must be separated hahaha) for the awesome photos! My horribly fat fingers looked surprisingly skinny. YAY! :)

Review: Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Dusk

I hate it when my face is only prepped with foundation and powder because I feel like I look like death. I need some sort of colour and during the times when I don't feel like applying blusher, bronzers are the next go-to products. Bronzers are all amazing for girls with huge wide face like me; I especially love to contour my cheekbone area to make my high cheekbones more obvious and hence looking more skinny. IT'S ALL LIES BUT OHWELL~

The Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Dusk was included in the Sephora Summer Set that I purchased a couple of months back.

Here's the link to the product: http://www.smashbox.com/product/6008/17747/index.tmpl and it retails for US$30.

Basically, Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights promises to give the skin "a gorgeous lit-from-within radiance".

Do I buy it? To be frank, not really.

For a sample product, 0.13oz/3.61g is quite a substantial amount.

As the website stated, these are the colours - pinkish bronze, tan, blushed pink, dark bronze and champagne.

The stripes look exceptionally pretty, but swirling a bronzer brush on the product gives off a nice glow to the face.

One swipe

Two swipes

Pigmentation: A huge disappointment. It's really difficult to get the real colour out and that involves heavy swiping on my part. Using a brush did not make the situation any better because there simply was negligible product that was picked up by the brush! How am I supposed to review a product when I can't even get it on my face? Terrible pigmentation.

Application: A nightmare because I can't seem to see the difference on my face. I kept brushing and brushing and brushing and I finally noticed some change in skintone after like 5 heavy applications. After those 5 heavy applications, I looked normal and sculpted, and not like a clown. What a laborious procedure!

Longevity: Although application and pigmentation were complete disasters, I have to credit the Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights for being long-lasting. It was noticeable and natural-looking on camera even after a long long 12-hour day. So kudos to that.

Packaging: Another thing that I hate about this product is the packaging. I really hate the fact that I have to keep screwing the top open before I can use it. What's the point? Why can't it be like other normal bronzers and their normal flip-open design? Also, I don't know what the material they use as the packaging but it really is a fingerprint magnet. My Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights looks terribly dirty right now and I have only used it twice! I guess I'm really not a happy customer when it comes to this product *shirks shoulder and throws it aside*.

Will I buy it again? Hell no, what's the point of it being a bronzer when I can't even get colour out of the product? It's not like as if I have a tanned skin tone, I'm borderline pale and I can't even see the pigmentation on my skin! Boo to this product!

Instagram visuals for first 2 weeks of September

Music of the moment: The entire Coexist album by The xx. A rather fresh change from my usual K-Pop indulgence. Such a good album for mugging.

This week has been such a long and dreary one. Mostly academic woes and all of them are making me hate school more and more. I will straighten out my thoughts eventually but at the moment everything's complete bullshit. =_=

The only outfit of the day from last week! I have been getting lazy with these ootd posts because of my terrible laggy phone. FRIDAY! IPHONE 5 COME TO ME!

Tank: H&M
Outer denim: Wonderstellar
Pants: H&M
Shoes: Fake toms (chio enough so who cares)

My hearty home-cooked breakfast. My ex-colleague commented how the eggs look like nipples. HHAHAHAHAHAHA. What a comment, seriously.

Monday's breakfast with kengyang at NTU Canteen A. A very heavy breakfast but it lasted through my 4-hour lesson. SO IT'S ALL GOOD.

HAHAHAHA this is just hilarious.

Monday's dinner at Canteen 2! All-time favourite beef-ball rice set. :)

Tuesday's FYP meeting was at Food For Thought @ Singapore Botanic Gardens. We were there at the same time as the royals!! Ok, maybe not the same premises but we were definitely all within a 1km radius! YAY TO THE ROYALS!

Lovely cranberry scone by the way.

And this HUMONGOUS banana and walnut pancake. I don't really like the gula melaka maple syrup but the pancake itself is good enough. NOMS~

Jeremy's birthday present! :D

And the final ensemble is ready! Jeremy is such a lego geek at heart. Couldn't resist tearing open the lego set that we bought for him for his birthday, and we had to stare at him fixing his lego set. HAHAHAHA.

New bunny blouse from Qoo10. They were less than 10 bucks! :) Qoo10 really has awesome bargains sometimes! And I just bought Zoya nailpolishes for less than 7 bucks each! BARGAIN!

Definitely not looking forward to next week but what else can I do. Being jaded only stumps my path of success. I need to get these evil thoughts out of my brain and work towards my 5-figure monthly income!! LET'S GO!!

Review: Lovemore Snail Mucin Healing and Hydrating Mask

[Disclaimer: This mask was sent to me for review purposes. However, all opinions are of my own and not purposely written more positive/more negative because the product was sent to me.]

Thank you to mySecretive.com for sending me a box of Lovemore Snail Mucin Healing and Hydrating Masks! I was genuinely pumped up to review them because of the words "SNAIL" and "HEALING" on the packaging. I'm such a sucker for anything snail-related. :P

Each box retails for S$8.90, and each box contains 5 masks! Reasonably-priced!

What the Lovemore Snail Mucin Healing and Hydrating Mask promises:
  • Deep hydration
  • Renewed and younger-looking skin
  • Moisture is locked in due to formation of invisible protective layer from the collagen fibre and proteoglycans
  • Healing and repairing
  • Anti-aging and firming

I'm very glad of the indication that the mask is of low acidity, is made up of non-colouring minerals, is alcohol free and non-comedogenic. I'm especially with the last phrase because yay, this means that the mask will not clog up your pores! A great sign especially for people with troubled skin like me. You don't want to be applying masks that cause breakouts!

The mask is packaged in the normal way - with a plastic layer to separate the foldings. This helps the wearer to separate the mask easier after taking it out from the packet. It also helps when the mask is made up of a very thin and fragile material - less chances of you tearing the mask apart even before application!

Application: I have no complaints about how it applies. There are air bubbles here and there, but overall, almost all of my entire face was able to soak in all the goodness. There was no liquid dripping during the application process as well.

Fragrance: Thankfully, the mask had a really mild floral fragrance. I also detected aloe vera smell? The fragrance made the experience quite soothing and pleasant.

Hydration: This Lovemore Snail Mucin Healing and Hydrating Mask definitely delivered in terms of hydration. My skin felt so choke-full of hydrating particles. It no longer felt tight from the acne medication and acne creams that I had to routinely eat and apply. The dry patches were also gone! However, the hydration didn't last till the next morning.

Healing and repairing: This is the part that I'm most amazed about. A background story first - I had a really bad acne breakout a month ago and so now I'm taking medications to curb it. As a result, I have scarrings all over my face. After three applications of this mask, I noticed that my scars have lightened! AMAZING. It's really obvious because some of the scars were previously of a really dark red colour, but after the three applications, they have lightened to a pale pink colour! I'm so glad I tried this mask out! Can't wait for my next mask experience with this miracle mask! :D

Did the mask deliver what it promised? Yes! Especially for the hydration and healing claims. I'm so glad I was given the Lovemore Snail Mucin Healing and Hydrating Mask to review. I will not have bought this otherwise! Now, I'm highly motivated to purchase more because of how miraculous it has been, especially towards the scars on my skin! DOUBLE THUMBS-UP FOR THIS MASK!

Review: Sexylook Intensive Repairing Black Cotton Mask

[Disclaimer: This mask was sent to me for review purposes. However, all opinions are of my own and not purposely written more positive/more negative because the product was sent to me.]

I was quite excited to review the Sexylook Intensive Repairing Black Cotton Mask simply because I was wondering what the hype was all about! I really wanted to see for myself if this mask was as good as it sounds.

My one sentence verdict - this queer black mask actually works wonders, even on troubled skin like mine!

The Sexylook Intensive Repairing Black Cotton Mask contains these main ingredients:

  • Activated Carbon - great for healing and purifying
  • Rock Rose Extract - can alleviate acne and prevent bacteria/pollutants entering the cells
  • Obsidian Extract - provides key anti-aging minerals to smooth and rejuvenate the skin
Anything that contains acne-fighting and anti-aging properties already wins me over! :D

The mask also promises to:
  • adsorb dirt and excessive sebum
  • gives skin continuous nutrient boost
  • rehydrate and repair skin
  • promotes skin regeneration and mineralisation for healthier and more moisturised skin

I think I have mentioned umpteen times before that I appreciate how masks now have both the manufacturing date and expiry date printed on the packaging. It's good as a reminder for busy women (and men)! You certainly do not want to be applying expired masks on your delicate skin!

The mask is completely black. I'm highly intrigued to put this on just because of the unconventional colour!

Mask material: It's a very pleasant surprise to find a mask that fits my facial contours so perfectly. It fit so well, there was no bubbles of air after I applied it on my face (as seen from photos above)! It's as if I took some cotton cloth, soaked it with some goodness and put it on my face. This is some high quality mask!

Fragrance: This mask is accompanied with a really milk floral fragrance. For a person who gets migraines from strong odours, I was highly relieved.

Hydration: As with almost all masks, they are all loaded with hydrating minerals, and so this mask is no exception. Excellent hydration!

Suitable for troubled skin? Definitely! I'm taking medication for acne control at the moment, and also applying really strong anti-acne creams on my face due to a really bad acne breakout. As a result, my face is now highly dry and sensitive. I was quite apprehensive of this mask initially, but I was glad I tried it! The liquid goodness was soaked into my skin quickly and my skin felt hydrated immediately. Also, after I applied it, I felt a tingling sensation on my skin, which hopefully meant the mask was working right? After I removed the mask, my face was obviously more fresh and the dry patches were gone. The effects were long-lasting too; my skin was still hydrated even till the morning after! Amazing hydration for troubled skin, especially for people who are on acne-medication!

And no, I didn't have any breakouts from this mask. SCORE! :)

Did the mask deliver what it promised? I will certainly have to try this mask out for a longer period of time before confirming its claims, but after one trial, I love it already because of how appropriately hydrating it is on my troubled skin! I'm now very inclined to purchase more to see further results on my skin!
