Korea needs to start giving them more love! Lee Hi is fantastico, but these girls are definitely on par!
Review: Morilins Firming + Revitalizing Organic Eye Therapy Mask
I apologise to my readers for not posting more review blogposts. The only reason I can give is that the laziness kicked in, especially because it's the holiday season and all I wanna do is lie on my bed and be a sloth, and roll around all day.
Not a very fruitful holiday, I know. Yikes.
But here we go, one more skincare review done! :)
This time, I'm reviewing the Morilins Firming + Revitalizing Organic Eye Therapy Mask that was included in my August Vanity Trove. I only got to use it now since I have my reservations about using new masks due to my sensitive, troubled skin. Since now my skin is somewhat under control, I'm back to using masks again! Hoorah for that!
If you want to get this mask after reading my blogpost (haha I hope that is the reason), then you can click on at beautycarousel.com to purchase it. It retails for S$9.90 each!
"Adopting an organic approach to beauty care and rich in active botanical extracts and oceanic minerals. MORILINS Facial Therapy and Eye Therapy masks cater to a wide range of skin types gently and effectively."
All the hype of organic products have also been applied on masks. Personally, I don't get the hype, but I'm quite sure the placebo effect works on a majority of people. Just because a product is organic means it's better than its counterparts. The mind works that way and it's smart than more and more brands are jumping into the "organic" bandwagon.
I'm not saying organic products are a bad thing of course. You pay more for a product that is deemed more effective and sanitary - sounds reasonable. I just don't get organic tomatoes lah, organic corns, organic black pepper. For what?
But that's beside the point haha. Let's get back to reviewing this eye mask!
This mask has a different directions guide than other eye mask. You will understand why in a while...
All the goodness that's compacted into the Morilins Firming + Revitalizing Organic Eye Therapy Mask.
Ingredients List
Packaging: The packaging embodies the "organic" concept very well. However, I thought the packaging was too big for an eye mask. It makes me think that I'm paying more for the packaging than the mask itself.
Mask Design: Such an interesting eye mask! Instead of the usual double sheets of cloth that need to be applied under both eyes, the Morilins Firming + Revitalizing Organic Eye Therapy Mask is just one long sheet of cloth! Also, this makes sense because instead of applying it under the eyes, you are supposed to cover your eyes with it, hence the "Close eyes before applying masks" instructions. I love this concept!
In the photo below, I was applying it wrongly. HAHAHAHA. The correct thing to do is to apply the mask further up until it covers the entire eyeball area!
I realised my mistake and I moved the mask further up, but I forgot to take a photo. FAIL!
Application: Confusing at first, but I finally got it! The eye mask was also very soft, hence it applied well and fit into the contours of the eye area very well. No unnecessary air bubbles and the perfect fit meant that I can be sure the goodness is working on every part of my eye area evenly.
Did it work? I'm quite happy to say yes it did work, and it worked miraculously. I think the main reason why it worked so well was because I had a bad eye-area condition to begin with. It was examination period and all I did was study and watch videos. Hence, my sleeping pattern was heavily disrupted and I looked like a panda (or Big Bang's Seungri LOL) without makeup. After using this mask for a good 40 minutes (I fell asleep halfway and hence I had it on for more than the recommended timing), I was surprised that the swelling under my eye area was visible and remarkably reduced.
The reduced swelling carried on till the next day and I was quite pleasantly surprised! Usually eye masks only work for a few hours, then your problems will appear again. Definitely not with the Morilins Firming + Revitalizing Organic Eye Therapy Mask!
Whether or not the mask firmed my eye area is a question that I cannot answer because I only used it once! After-effects like firming can only be seen if you religiously use the mask for a few weeks or so. Hence, I'm not eligible to tell you whether or not the firming effect is legitimate.
Will I buy it again? I will, but now I'm quite hesitant because of the price tag. S$9.90 per eye mask is quite pricey in my opinion. At the moment, I'm using my philosophy hope in a tube, and so I don't really need an eye mask. However, in the future when I badly need an immediate solution, I definitely will go back to the Morilins Firming + Revitalizing Organic Eye Therapy Mask!

Bangkok Haul! Madness I tell you!!! :S
When I vowed to bring an overweight luggage back from Bangkok, I wasn't kidding at all. Sadly, my luggage was too small, and after squeezing everything in, I only had a 7kg increase from its initial weight.
My sister went even crazier because she was not only buying stuff for herself, but also stuff to sell on her facebook shop.
My poor mother had to accomodate with us. I think she barely bought 5 items for herself. :S
It was a good family outing though, so everything's fine and dandy.
My sister and I didn't want to lay everything out in our Bangkok Hotel because we needed to save every precious minute either shopping or eating!! Hence, we decided to do it once we reached Singapore. Haha, people commented that we could open a pasar malam stall already. :X
It's quite obvious which half is my sister's and which half is mine. She's fond of pastels and florals and peter pan tops, while I'm more into denim, quirky prints, studs and loud colours. It's good that way because we always buy different things - meaning more things to choose from each other's closets (though she has the advantage here because she can wear most of my clothes as baggy wear, but I can't fit into her teeny tiny tops. Urgh).
I think both of us spent less than S$400 on all this craziness. It's good when you're travelling with your parents because first you don't need to pay for food, transport and accomodation (or FTA in short hahaha) and second, they will give you more money when your those in your possession have been exhausted.
Bangkok was truly a shopping paradise. My most expensive buy was just S$11!
I don't really have an informative itinerary to type out for you guys because most of the time, we just blindly walked around our hotel (Centrepoint Petchburi, which is located next to Platinum Fashion Mall!) and we found gems!
Here's a list of the places that we went to:
- Platinum Fashion Mall
- Chatuchak Weekend Market
- Pratunam Market
- Grand Palace
- Centrepoint
- Chinatown
- MBK
- Saphan Phut Night Market
Some tips when in Bangkok!
- Refrain from taking tuk-tuks during peak hours or when there's a traffic jam. The tuk-tuk drivers usually will quote you exorbitant prices!
- Taxis are amazing in Bangkok. They are everywhere, they are loud-coloured (neon pinks, neon oranges, neon purples, neon greens!!!) and they are CHEAP. Our trip from the airport to the hotel was 200baht (including of highway fee and airport surcharge), that's like S$8!! Please make sure you ask the driver to use the taxi metre though. We didn't know about this and our taxi ride to Chatuchak was 200baht (quoted by the driver), while our ride back to the hotel was only 80baht (by taxi metre). =_=
- MBK is an amazing shopping place if you are shopping for gold and electronics. If not, then skip it. We were only there for 45 minutes and ended up eating, and buying nothing.
- Please learn the art of bargaining, especially when you are in Chatuchak Weekend Market or any other markets. My mom is a total expert and both my sister and I were relieved we had our mom with us. Both of us have terrible bargaining skills and we witnessed the true powers of my mom's legendary bargaining skill. More than half price cut. O.O
- Platinum Fashion Mall is cheap by Singapore standards, but they are not cheap by Chatuchak Weekend Market standards. So if you are lucky and you are in Bangkok during the weekends, then spend most of your money there rather than Platinum Fashion Mall.
- We also realised that the vendors at Chatuchak Weekend Market charged more on Sundays than on Saturdays. We were there on both days and the prices increased on Sunday. Blergh.
- Saphan Phut Night Market was amazing, especially for those who like vintage clothes and jeans! Denim shorts were as cheap as 100baht (~S$4)!
- PLEASE EAT THE COCONUT ICE CREAM AT CHATUCHAK WEEKEND MARKET. HOMAIGAWD HEAVENLY ICE CREAM.
- Roadside stalls in Bangkok are not dirty and the food they sell are all amazing. Please exploit the many fresh fruit stalls! Even non-fruit lovers will love the mango/jambu/pineapple/guava because they are all SO SWEET.
I can't think of anymore right now. haha. I will update the list again when more thoughts come into my mind.
Bangkok was fantastic and I can't wait to go back for more shopping and eating and getting fat!!! :D

Recent nailpolish acquisitions (Etude House, Seche Vite, Northern Lights Topcoat and more!)
My nailpolish collection is growing alarmingly and I really got to control myself since I only use my existing nailpolishes once each! I need to either stop buying, or use 10 colours at the same time. Everytime I see a new beauty shop, the first section that I will head to will be the nailpolish section. I think the main reason why is because nailpolishes are the more affordable products. I used to love going to the blusher section, but ohgawd blushers are expensive, eh?
During my weekend trip to Bangkok, I managed to get some nailpolishes from The Beauty Buffet (the website so cute, all pink and the home page is now emblazoned with the Thai king's portrait. I think it was his birthday?). I got myself some highlighter orange, highlighter purple and a pretty metallic pink (chosen by my sister). The packaging's crazy cute too! And really different, especially with the brown theme and all.
I also got myself some Etude House nailpolishes since they were on sale on Qoo10! So cheap and delivery was stellar.

And my teeny tiny topcoats arrived too!!
I think mini topcoats are great because my full-sized Seche Vite topcoat got so gooey and sticky and urgh before I can even use up half of the bottle. :'( Application was terrible with it because every single application was so stringy! It's like super glue stringy. Ew.
So I immediately ordered when I saw these tiny topcoats going on sale on Qoo10. I heard so much about the Northern Lights topcoats too, and so I ordered the one with silver flecks too!

Size of topcoats compared to The Beauty Buffet nailpolish
Just look at this topcoat. IT IS TOO PRETTY. HO MAI GAWD.
It definitely dries as fast as Seche Vite topcoat but it's less glossy. I'd prefer it to be more glossy, but well the amazing fine specks of multi-dimensional silver specks made up for it! :)

I won something from Nickel Row!
I'm not very lucky when it comes to lucky draws but well, this time I won and I was rather surprised by it since I forgot I actually entered for the lucky draw.
Nickel Row had a facebook giveaway and since I won, I was allowed to choose anything that I wanted from the collection that they were pre-ordering.
Since I was obsessed with denim (well I still am obsessed now), I chose this denim top!
I think the fringes need a little ironing TLC and it will look fabulous! I'm also planning to stud it with my newly arrived star studs!! :D
Do visit Nickel Row's facebook page to stand a chance to win something too! They usually do a giveaway for every new collection that they are pre-ordering!
Or, if you are interested in pre-ordering, do visit their website: http://nickelrow.com/ :)

OOTD + Kuishin Bo with lovely MTV colleagues!
After a 5-day hiatus to the Land of Smiles, I'm finally back on track with blogging! :D It was an amazing experience, but now I have to suffer the consequences of my actions. I need to lose all the weight that I have gained. Not a lot but I don't like what I see on the scale. I just don't like to gain weight lah, period.
Anyway, here's an outdated post on my outing with Jaslyn (my lovely ex-boss!) and Lirong. Jaslyn was so nice and she treated us both to a buffet dinner at Kuishin Bo!
OOTD first!
Top: H&M (I got it for S$7.90 since it was an opening sale at ION Orcahrd!)
Skirt: Cotton On
Socks: Qoo10
Boots: Cotton On
Tote: Pearlmilktea
Bracelets: H&M and Qoo10
Necklace: Hongkong Night Market!
I had an amazing night with Jaslyn and Lirong. We had crazy fresh seafood and just caught up with each other on anything and everything. :)
Some photos of the food that I devoured that night. Everything was beyond delicious and I finally learnt how to eat crab! I usually shy away from them because it's troublesome and eating too much prawns, crabs and shellfish gives me rashes.
Walao this lobster is just too good.
I really can't wait to work at MTV again! :)

Everyday Make-up Routine + Jazzing it up a lil!
I have been asked quite a lot on the everyday makeup products that I use. So here's a post to answer all the queries that I have on that topic!
I used to buy makeup products just for the sake of buying, but nowadays I keep repurchasing things that I like, and I hesitate a little more when it comes to experimenting with new brands. The reason is simple - I don't want to risk my skin from breaking out. As I get older, my skin gets more and more sensitive to the chemicals used in such products and so usually I take the easy way out and just stick with the products that I know will work fine on my skin.
The first section is just for face alone. Not everything is used on my face at one go; I rotate between products or just simply apply what I feel like applying.
ZA Two-way Foundation - has been a favourite of mine since secondary school days. I strayed in the past, but always come back to this powder because it's fantastic!
Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Foundation - Not kidding about the "Stay Matte" claim. This liquid foundation also has no SPF in it, so it's good for days when you know there's a lot of flash photography involved.
Maybelline Pure Eraser Mineral Liquid Foundation - My current favourite liquid foundation. Amazing product!
Heroine Beauty Perfect Sunscreen - My default primer. Makes my skin so smooth and high SPF content too!
L.A. Girl Pro.conceal - I used to hate this product but ever since my skin became the shipwreck that it was, I realised this was the only concealer that covers well but will not break me out. So I have officially jumped ship.
MISSHA Under Eye Brightener - I only use this for my dark under-eye areas. Works like magic.
everydayminerals blush in Viki's Radiant Creation - I use this blush when I feel like I need a more orange or coral cheek look. The fine sparkles are pretty too!
M.A.C Beauty Powder in Pretty Baby - On days in which I like pink cheeks, I will turn to this beauty powder. Extremely buildable and the colour is not too ra-ra!
elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in SunKissed - I always turn to this product whenever I need to look more alive. I don't use this for contouring though because it's quite sparkly. Usually what I do is I apply after my blush to make my cheeks more radiant!
Go-to eye products! I always use them!
NYX Eyeshadow Base - This product deserves more love from the beauty community. I tried both the UD Primer and the Too Faced Primer. This one works as brilliantly. So why pay more? :)
Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow Trio in 12 Lotus Flower - I mainly use this for the nude colour. I will apply it all over my eyelid area and that will be all my eyeshadow work.
I like to layer my mascaras so here are my current two favourites - Tony Moly Cats Wink Mascara and M.A.C Zoom Fast Black Lash.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion - The blackest of black eyeliner with an amazing amazing AMAZING formula and staying power. I'm just sad I'm using it so much. I need to get a new one soon!
Heroine Make Liquid Felt-tip Eyeliner - I always use this to do my cat-eye or winged eyeliner. Of course years of practice help when in comes to the perfect winged eyeliner but this is a good product to start with!
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Midnight Cowboy - I like to apply this on my inner undereye area because it creates the illusion of larger and more awake eyes!
When I see the need to jazz it up a little, or when I have a little bit more time, I turn to these products the most! More time equals to more products and more colours!
- Urban Decay Naked Palette
- Sleek Pout Polish in Electro Peach
- Too Faced bronzer
- Fresh lipbalm
- elf Blush in Candid Coral
Yay! Hope this answers the queries! Have a good week ahead! :) I'm going to Bangkok in another 12 hours' time! Shopping galore!!! :D

Rings and Bracelets Obsession
The story is if I counted the amount of money I spent on rings and bracelets, I think I can get enough to buy a pair of Underground creepers. Maybe two.
All my rings stuffed inside an LV makeup pouch, which was passed down by my grandma.
I don't think I have enough bracelets. To be really honest. Hmm.

OOTD: H&M Tribal Pants (CRAZY PRINT!!! :D)
2NE1 held their concert on Saturday and thanks to Lirong and MTV, I was able to go for the Soundcheck session - rehearsal before the actual concert. I knew it wasn't going to be a long one, but I didn't expect it to end after 30 minutes. HAHAA. Major fail but they sang 3 songs live, so I was happy with that too! Anything to see CL, Dara, Bom and Minzy live! They were so friendly too! :')
Anyway, my fashion thought for that day was okay since I'm gonna attend this concert by 4 fashionistas, I need to up my game. But I didn't want to stray too much from my usual sweater-with-everything style, so yes, in the end I wear my trusted H&M maroon sweater.
Loving this pair of tribal pants though!! It's high-waisted so I have a flat tummy, which is ALWAYS good. :D
Top: H&M
Tribal panks: H&M (S$17.90!!! WTF PRICE!!)
Shoes: Dr Martens
Necklace: Qoo10
Bangles: Qoo10, H&M, Athens Night Market
I'm extremely happy too because finally I have ZERO pimples on my face!! :') Of course there are scars but scars are much easier to conceal than protruding puss-filled pimples! I hope the scars lighten soon! YAY! The medicine and supplements finally worked after 5 months! WTF. 5 months of pure agony.
Hair is in a mess but here's a full outfit photo! :D
OH! Bag is from GAP HK! :)
And that was a plastic bag from H&M (I'm addicted, for sure) with 2 purchases from the newly-opened outlet at ION. A muscle tank for S$5.90, and a pink sweater with silver threadings for S$7.90. Crazy opening deals!
I'm still in the midst of my exam now, and my last paper's on Wednesday. Really can't wait for everything to be over, homg.
For those still taking exams, press on and good luck! :D
