Everyday Make-up Routine + Jazzing it up a lil!

I have been asked quite a lot on the everyday makeup products that I use. So here's a post to answer all the queries that I have on that topic!

I used to buy makeup products just for the sake of buying, but nowadays I keep repurchasing things that I like, and I hesitate a little more when it comes to experimenting with new brands. The reason is simple - I don't want to risk my skin from breaking out. As I get older, my skin gets more and more sensitive to the chemicals used in such products and so usually I take the easy way out and just stick with the products that I know will work fine on my skin.

The first section is just for face alone. Not everything is used on my face at one go; I rotate between products or just simply apply what I feel like applying.

ZA Two-way Foundation - has been a favourite of mine since secondary school days. I strayed in the past, but always come back to this powder because it's fantastic!

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Foundation - Not kidding about the "Stay Matte" claim. This liquid foundation also has no SPF in it, so it's good for days when you know there's a lot of flash photography involved.

Maybelline Pure Eraser Mineral Liquid Foundation - My current favourite liquid foundation. Amazing product!

Heroine Beauty Perfect Sunscreen - My default primer. Makes my skin so smooth and high SPF content too!

L.A. Girl Pro.conceal - I used to hate this product but ever since my skin became the shipwreck that it was, I realised this was the only concealer that covers well but will not break me out. So I have officially jumped ship.

MISSHA Under Eye Brightener - I only use this for my dark under-eye areas. Works like magic.

everydayminerals blush in Viki's Radiant Creation - I use this blush when I feel like I need a more orange or coral cheek look. The fine sparkles are pretty too!

M.A.C Beauty Powder in Pretty Baby - On days in which I like pink cheeks, I will turn to this beauty powder. Extremely buildable and the colour is not too ra-ra!

elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in SunKissed - I always turn to this product whenever I need to look more alive. I don't use this for contouring though because it's quite sparkly. Usually what I do is I apply after my blush to make my cheeks more radiant!

Go-to eye products! I always use them!

NYX Eyeshadow Base - This product deserves more love from the beauty community. I tried both the UD Primer and the Too Faced Primer. This one works as brilliantly. So why pay more? :)

Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow Trio in 12 Lotus Flower - I mainly use this for the nude colour. I will apply it all over my eyelid area and that will be all my eyeshadow work.

I like to layer my mascaras so here are my current two favourites - Tony Moly Cats Wink Mascara and M.A.C Zoom Fast Black Lash.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion - The blackest of black eyeliner with an amazing amazing AMAZING formula and staying power. I'm just sad I'm using it so much. I need to get a new one soon!

Heroine Make Liquid Felt-tip Eyeliner - I always use this to do my cat-eye or winged eyeliner. Of course years of practice help when in comes to the perfect winged eyeliner but this is a good product to start with!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Midnight Cowboy - I like to apply this on my inner undereye area because it creates the illusion of larger and more awake eyes!

When I see the need to jazz it up a little, or when I have a little bit more time, I turn to these products the most! More time equals to more products and more colours!

  • Urban Decay Naked Palette
  • Sleek Pout Polish in Electro Peach
  • Too Faced bronzer
  • Fresh lipbalm
  • elf Blush in Candid Coral

Yay! Hope this answers the queries! Have a good week ahead! :) I'm going to Bangkok in another 12 hours' time! Shopping galore!!! :D

Review: MISSHA The Style 4D Mascara

I really am addicted to buying beauty products on Qoo10! i have 2 more goodies coming in the mail! HOORAH! :D

This time, I purchased a mascara from Qoo10, and it was sold coincidentally by the seller who sold the MISSHA Under Eye Brightener (http://fitrina-inamorata.blogspot.sg/2012/07/review-missha-style-under-eye.html) and she gave me lots of samples! :D

I bought the MISSHA The Style 4D Mascara

If you want to purchase it: http://list.qoo10.com.sg/gmkt.inc/Goods/Goods.aspx?goodscode=405991416 It's only S$7.90 with free postage!! :)

Packaging: I'm a definite fan of this mascara's packaging. It's very sleek, especially with the metallic black exterior and also it's thin and long (that's what she said moment. HAHA), which makes it very easy to carry around. Pop it in your pencil box!

Wand: It's not one of those irksome floppy wands, where you can bend the wand for nobody knows what reason. I believe mascara wands have to be sturdy and not flexible. Flexible for what? So that you can splatter more product on your eyelids? Ew, no please. This wand has a square brush and the bristles are very fine. It's definitely more of a lengthening and separating mascara.

Application: It's a dream mascara to work with. Application is very easy because you have no excess product at the tip of the wand. I hate it when that happens - I will get a clump of product at the tear duct area. I think the opening of the product is tight enough to scrape excess product off the wand, making it cleaner and easier to handle!

Performance: On the first two applications, my lashes were very well-separated and very much lengthened. However, it's not just a mascara that does separating and lengthening. It curves and volumises as well! I think that's where the 4D name came about (somehow it also reminds me of the new L'oreal 4D mascara that has Gwen Stefani as its spokesperson). The third application will give you the much needed volume, and there are no clumps! I love this mascara!

Also, I have naturally longer lashes, hence it was easier for me to work with this mascara For those of you with shorter lashes, curl your lashes before applying this, you will see how the mascara holds up your curl beautifully!

Longevity: TOO GOOD. I had it on for almost a full day, and my lashes were still perky and curled! :)

Will I buy it again? DEFINITELY. This has been a good experience! I now think that angmoh brands of mascaras lack in the oomph factor when compared to the Korean/Japanese mascaras! Although Maybelline has been highly effective since day 1.

Now some random photos of my favourite Urban Outfitters shirt. Heh.

And I think I suit medium-length hair, no? :D

Review: MISSHA The Style Under Eye Brightener

This is another one of my Qoo10 acquisitions. I was running out of my Etude House concealer, and decided to ransack the website for another good Korean brand concealer, and I found this! It's only S$6.90 with free shipping. AMAZING! :)

I really enjoy buying beauty products off Qoo10. They are authentic, very reasonably priced (a huge difference from the exorbitant price-tags at the physical stores in Singapore) and the sellers are always including a generous number of free samples. LOVELY!

I tried the MISSHA The Style Under Eye Brightener, and I'm glad to say it works!

And yes, at first I was really baffled by the "Under Eye Brightener" name, but I guess it's a concealer that's more suited for the under-eye areas. I used it on other parts and it's working out fine!

Applicator: The applicator is the typical doe-foot applicator found in almost all of such products. No qualms whatsoever about the applicator.

Coverage: This is not as heavy duty as I would like it to be. It's more for someone who has light acne or someone with really terrible dark eye circles. True to its name, it works better for under eye areas than for acne or spots. If you were to use this on red, flaming pimples, it will do nothing to it. Seriously nothing. It doesn't even conceal the redness.

Consistency: I am glad this concealer has a consistency that resembles a gel mousse rather than a liquid. I really hate too-watery concealers (what's the point?!) because they just run everywhere and you can't concentrate the coverage on your targeted areas. However, this has that just-nice consistency that I like. It's not too sticky like a cream concealer, but it's thick enough for easy concealing.

Anyway, just a heads up to people with oily skin/ troubled skin, if you are using cream concealers at the moment, stop using them, unless there's the "non-comedogenic" claim emblazoned on the product. Cream concealers use a lot of oil in their formulations and hence they may make your skin problems worse!! Use a liquid or powder concealer instead!

Application: Very easy to blend, and also somehow it covers up huge pores! Hoorah! :D

I don't have perfect skin, but I always aim to use beauty products to conceal my imperfections. People say I'm crazy and obsessed, but in the end you are judged by how you look/ through first impressions right?

Will I buy it again? I don't think so. Even though it works well (and more so under the eyes), I would rather buy a concealer that works on both my acne areas and under my eyes!
