Photo spam: Oh Paris, how have I missed you! :(

I had the fortune of visiting Paris mid-June of 2011 due to a school exchange programme, and I really miss the beautiful country.

I still remember how we used to camp some distance away from the Eiffel Tower to wait for the entire structure to burst out in its sparkly goodness (which occurred hourly after 10pm).

I really hope to go back some day! GRAD TRIP LET'S GO!

Cotton On Asia online purchase! AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

Cotton On is finally online!!

Here's the link to the Asia site: http://asia.cottonon.com/

I have always been a fan of Cotton On apparels. People say the quality is lousy, but I have Cotton On items from years and years ago and they are still in good quality, so I guess you really have to choose well.

The only downside is Cotton On new items are always so ridiculously overpriced. This is the reason why I always wait till Sale season to buy them. Prices are down by sometimes more than 75% and who doesn't love bargains?!

Today's the last day for sale online at the Cotton On Asia site so better hurry! The code "FREESHIP" will entitle you to free shipping (only for Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong).

My experience was MORE THAN AMAZING.

The box of goodies came delivered to your doorstep and they were extremely well packaged.

A pair of shades for S$2! :D Original price: S$14.95

Chio umbrella for S$2! Original price: S$9.95

Brown/nude boots for just S$10! Originally at S$49.95

This cape/cardigan for S$15 from an original price of S$49.95
All these items should cost me more than S$100, but I only got them all for S$29, plus free delivery to my house!

AMAZING! :))

Review: Lovemore FROM Taiwan Masks

[Disclaimer: This mask was sent to me for review purposes. However, all opinions are of my own and not purposely written more positive/more negative because the product was sent to me.]

mySecretive.sg sent me one more set of masks, and this blogpost is all about the Lovemore FROM Taiwan Masks

I was sent four different varieties, each targeting a certain improvement you want your skin to have:
  1. Wine Yeast Whitening Mask
  2. Loofah & Aloe Vera Hydrating Mask
  3. Pearl Barley & Milk Smoothing Mask
  4. Mountain Tea Polyphenols Moisturizing Mask
At first I thought this mask was going to be the normal kind of masks which everyone is already familiar to and hence more difficult to pinpoint its brilliance and downfalls.

I thought wrong.

Let's start with the Wine Yeast Whitening Mask. This mask is good for:
  • whitening effect
  • youthful complexion

The Loofah & Aloe Vera Hydrating Mask is good for:
  • giving your skin a boost of deep hydration
  • repairing and refining your skin texture

The Pearl barley & Milk Smoothing Mask is good for:

  • getting that baby-soft skin
  • whitening effect
  • firming and smoothing properties

The Mountain Tea Polyphenols Moisturizing Mask is good for:

  • keeping your skin moist all day long
  • anti-oxidizing effects
  • diminishing visible pores

The first mask that I decided to try was the Mountain Tea Polyphenols Moisturizing Mask simply because I was extremely attracted to its anti-oxidizing properties claim.

When I opened the mask, I was quite shocked to see the blue tint. I thought wow, this was going to be a completely different mask!

But actually, the blue sheet acts as a protection to the extremely delicate mask and also as an applicator so that you won't risk tearing the mask during application.

So here's how you use this mask:

  1. Remove it from the packaging.
  2. Making sure that the blue side is attached to the actual mask, apply the duo mask side first.
  3. After adjusting the position of your mask, remove the blue sheet
  4. Voila! You have applied the delicate mask on your face successfully (I hope haha)!

Mask design: The mask itself is made out of this really filmsy and delicate material. It felt like as if it's going to tear with the slightest force applied on it. Hence, I really liked the idea of the blue sheet as a helping hand.

Application: It gets quite tricky because I have never used a mask this way before, but after I removed the blue sheet, it was quite certain that the blue sheet is there for a reason, and not just for some gimmick purpose. Do use a light hand when you are adjusting though because it tears quite easily.

Fragrance: This has an extremely soothing smell. Nothing too strong, but its presence is there. I actually liked the smell a lot!

Does it deliver what it promised? Yes, and no.

Yes, because I can really feel my skin choking up with hydration goodness and I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me or not, but the pores near my nose area were visibly reduced in size! Perhaps it was a momentary thing, but it was an extremely welcome after-effect.

No, because well you can't really judge a mask's anti-oxidizing properties just through one application, can you?

My mantra with masks will be to not expect too much after one application. Mask sheets like these are great for moisturizing and anti-dull properties, but anti-aging/anti-oxidizing/anti-blemishes properties require multiple applications.

In all, it's a unique mask that delivers, so everyone should try it! :)

Review: Sexy Look Rejuvenating Duo Lifting Mask

[Disclaimer: This mask was sent to me for review purposes. However, all opinions are of my own and not purposely written more positive/more negative because the product was sent to me.]

Once again, mySecretive.com was extremely kind to send me one box of the Sexy Look Rejuvenating Duo Lifting Mask to review.

The Sexy Look Rejuvenating Duo Lifting Mask retails for S$8.80 for a box of 5 masks.

Ingredients List

This mask promises to:
  • give your skin double moisture to keep skin supple (due to addition of bird's nest)
  • fight against gravity, especially with the ear hooks, to lift up your skin in various areas
  • delay aging, repair damaged skin and firm sagging skin (thanks to the addition of caviar)
Any mask that has anti-aging and firming properties, I'm all for it. I'm currently in a sad situation in which I realised my skin is going to age much faster - so much more than before, and hence I cannot be complacent anymore. I need to nourish my skin!!

Mask design: It looks like a typical sheet mask but with the ear hooks. Masks with ear hooks are gaining popularity quite rapidly because of how they are beneficial for lifting and firming purposes. Personally, I'm on the fence. The good news is your mask will no longer slide down when you are sitting up right or walking around, and yes perhaps you will see lifting effects. The other end of the story is it gets really messy, especially when you hook it around your ears - your hair is bathed in all that goodness as well, not necessarily a pleasant feeling. Also, lifting effects will normally not be seen after one usage - it requires diligent and habitual application. So, I'm not a fan, but I'm not going to bash it either.

Application: I was really enjoying the application process. This mask is definitely made out of a different kind of material. On one hand, it's very resistant to tears so you can really pull the mask to fit your face contours (and you get that "pulling" sensation as well), and on the other hand, it's very smooth and it fits onto your face easily without the irksome "bubble" troubles. I truly enjoy putting this mask on my face!

Fragrance: Nothing much to complain about. However, if you have the tendency to suffer from giddy spells due to strong smells, then perhaps you should avoid the mask/use it when your headache condition is better, because the smell is a little bit strong.

Double hydration? I definitely noticed a difference in my skin after using this mask in terms of moisturising factor. It's really an effective mask to use for those with dry skin! I'm not a person with dry skin however because of my acne medication, I have been getting dry spells on my face. One week it will be oily, and one week it will be extremely dry and flaky. I used this mask when my skin was horribly flaking, and I'm glad that the mask helped to salvage the situation quite a bit.

Firming and lifting? Since I only used the mask once, it's not wise for me to go all excited about firming and lifting effects I did experience the "lifting" sensation though, so that's a good start eh? I'm quite sure with more applications, I will see perhaps a more defined jawline? :D

Did the mask deliver what it promised? Yes, definitely! I loved how it saved my flaking skin! Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I really enjoyed that "lifting" sensation. It's like an indication that there's some lifting mechanism working underneath the sheet. The Sexy Look Rejuvenating Duo Lifting Mask is something that you should try! And it's so reasonably priced too!

Itacho Sushi @ JCube

Itacho Sushi has been our favourite Japanese sushi place ever since we chanced upon it at ION Orchard during those beautiful internship days. Warm, moist rice coupled with the freshest possible ingredients. It's just sushi heaven and I don't mind paying per piece.

Since our FYP meeting was held at JCube, it was of course time to savour some good sushi at Itacho Sushi again. Sadly though, this outlet is not as spectacular as the ION one. :( The sushi rice was cold, and the sushi roll did not come with crispy seaweed. Instead we had the normal almost soggy seaweed.

Nevertheless, it was still a good dinner!

Photos time!

This is not a food review so haha I prefer to just post photos and not describe them because I'm really bad at describing food. Everything's "good", "delicious" and "awesome" (or the opposite) to me, so I'm not the correct person to turn to for food recommendations.

I'm extremely hungry right now. Gosh.

Also, recess week is over. From now on, we are working towards the final examination. It's way too fast. I don't really understand how this universe works. On some days it feels like 24 hours a day, on others it feels like 10 hours a day.

I cleverly left all my assignments undone, and now I have to complete them all within two days. Amazing planning system. My brain deserves a medal.
