Review: Lioele Glittering Jewel Liner

Korean brand eyeliners are really becoming a staple in my makeup routine. I have run out of my Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero months ago, but have yet to repurchase because of my many surprisingly trustable eyeliners from Korean brands like Missha and TheFaceShop. I am always eager to try out new eyeliners because eyeliners are my #1 most used products!

Hence, I didn't think twice when I saw the Lioele Glittering Jewel Liner on Timed Sale on Qoo10! They were originally S$7.90 with free shipping, but I got them fro S$4.90!

S$4.90 for an eyeliner is extremely affordable, but I'm surprised at how good this eyeliner is. However, it doesn't push Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil (Zero) off my Holy Grail list. That magical pencil is still my most trusted eyeliner, but so pricey in comparison to this one!

I bought mine in Matte Black. Yes, quite weird I know since the name's "glittering jewel liner" and all. There are other fantastic colours available of course, but I chose Matte Black because that's the colour that I use everyday and use up very fast!

Delivery took almost two weeks, but the item came from S. Korea, so I wasn't worried. The seller also included quite a few sample sachets of other Korean products.

What the eyeliner promises:

  • super creamy texture
  • lets you draw eyelines softly and neatly
  • long-lasting
  • waterproof
  • no smudging even in sweat or sebum
I find the description kind of contradicting. In the product description, it promises no "smudging even in sweat or sebum", but under CAUTION, it states that it's possible to be "removed by sebum".

I like how Lioele gave a tip on powder-puffing the eyelid area before applying the eyeliner! Works like magic!

Ingredient List and Manufacturing Date

Packaging: Fuss-free and rather sleek. I like the hot pink cap and it definitely brings out the brand identity. It just ht me that Korean brands prefer to go a more minimalistic direction when it comes to packaging, while Japanese brands go ALL OUT to capture your attention. TRIVIA! :D

Anyway, a sharpener is also included at the end of the pencil. I do apologise for not capturing it in my photos!

Swatch (two swipes) under camera flash

Swatch after rinse under tap water and gentle rubbing

Pigmentation: Not as pigmented as Urban Decay's but it is still quite dark. I think the pencil lead dries quite fast though, hence one application is not enough to bring out the real pigmentation.

Texture: Extremely creamy, as with almost all Korean brand eyeliners. It's creamy so when you apply it, it glides on smoothly and neatly. Do take note to not touch your eyeliner right after application though, that's when it will smudge. Give it 10-20 seconds to dry and it will be HEAVY DUTY SMUDGE-PROOF!

Longevity: I went out a full day with this on, and with no touch-ups, and the eyelines were still presentable. I didn't have panda eyes or whatever. So thumbs up to the long-lastingness of the Lioele Glittering Jewel Liner!

Is it waterproof? Definitely. It passed the rubbing-under-running-tap test with flying colours!

Is it smudgeproof under sweat and sebum? I'm not very convinced on this. I have very oily lids and after half a day, there was some visible transfer on my upper lids (especially where my double eyelid fold is) and I had to remove them using tissue. Not very visible when my eyes are wide open, but when I look down, it's quite atrocious. I will advise people with oily lids to apply a layer of black eyeshadow (or any eyeshadow that matches your eyeliner colour) after applying your eyeliner. This really does help to keep the sebum under control.

Will I buy it again? Definitely! I'm excited to purchase colours like Marine Blue and Glam Bronze!

Everyday visuals from Instagram

My outfit for August babies celebration. This H&M skirt is really a great purchase! S$25 and quality of it is fantastic!

A bowl sashimi goodness resting on sushi rice from Waraku. I think this was too overpriced. Why you give me small pieces of sashimi!!! BAH!

My current nailpolish combo! Both from innisfree! Just in case you haven't read, you can read my innisfree review

Some alfredo pasta from Lenas. This was the first plate of cream pasta that had me gagging towards the end. Also, I had a really bad tummyache after that. =_=

Thank you Secretive Pte Ltd for these masks! Reviews coming up soon! :)

Yay to all the crazy brilliant WKWSCI students (and dearest friends) who went to Bhutan and had their articles published on Straits Times and Business Times! YAY!

Also many thanks to Romwe for the free galaxy leggings! Can't wait to wear them! :)

Crazy good Bak Kut Teh at Tai Seng area. I think it was called Old Streets Bak Kut Teh. The dry BKT was different, but I still prefer the normal BKT.

Playing with my phone's camera apps and I came out with this! Heart bokeh really makes everything dreamy huh?

Night Fest 2012 photos! I really love the exhibition at SOTA. Not many people like it though, especially those that prefer fast-moving and more exciting stuff.

Another one from Night Fest 2012!

Review: Innisfree Eco Nail Colours

Just a few weeks ago, I went on a nailpolish frenzy on Qoo10 because for some reason they were having so many timed sales on different nailpolishes! For those who are new to Qoo10, it's an online shopping portal based in Singapore and it was originally known as Gmarket Singapore. Twice everyday, they will have Timed Sales on different products that will be heavily discounted for a period of 6 hours. To be honest I really do check Qoo10 twice a day to see if anything catches my eye #shopaholic.

Just when I wanted to try more Korean brand nailpolishes, Innisfree Eco Nail Colours were having a crazy Timed Sale! Originally each was S$3.50 (already a steal), but because of the Timed Sale, each nailpolish was now S$1.90. Naturally I bought more than I needed, but hey! The colours were really really eye-catching and they had so many glitter polishes!!

Here's the link for those who want to try the nailpolishes out (no more Timed Sale though): http://list.qoo10.sg/gmkt.inc/Goods/Goods.aspx?goodscode=406797230

Also, I need to comment on the delivery service. I was so scared that the nailpolishes will break during the postage process, but the seller wrapped everything perfectly in plenty of bubble wrap, so I was a happy customer! The delivery time is quite slow though but they send the items from Seoul, so you can't expect instant postage right?

Here are some photos (taken from the Qoo10 product site) of the pretty nailpolish colours! :) I'm in love with all the glitter colours!

ANNNNDDDDDD I really went crazy, buying 9 nailpolishes at a go. Call me a shopaholic, I ADMIT THAT I AM. :D But I'm a shopaholic who takes advantages of crazy bargains! :D

Look at all those glitters!!!!! *drools*

This is #106 - the most glitterfied nailpolish in the bunch. I love how it includes glitters of every colour and shape! Amazing staying power too! I have it on now and it has been a week and NO CHIPPING AT ALL! :)

#85 - a milky pink base colour littered with pink and silver glitter chunks. Quite good on its own (layered), but I think it looks best with a hot pink colour underneath!

#74 - pink glitter bonanza. The formula is a bit thick on this one, so I think it's more tricky to apply.

#96 - a silver shimmer base nailpolish with blue flecks. AMAZINGGG

#71 - I will call this a christmas glitter party because of the gold, green and red glitters combination!

#102 - another silver shimmer base nail polish but this time with finer pink glitters. I will definitely apply this on its own. Too pretty!

#69 - A very rich navy blue. This photo seriously does the real colour NO justice.

#89 - a mix of turquoise and sky blue. Very unique!

#94 - pearl pink with gold shimmers. Amazing colour but applies rather thinly.

In all, I think these nailpolishes are beyond my expectations. I can't really go into individual nailpolishes because I haven't tried all of them yet, but based on the two that I have on right now (#94 as a base and #106 as the glitter pow-wow), I'm highly impressed. Staying power is extremely surprising and I didn't even reapply my topcoat!

Do get some if you want to try some affordable nailpolishes! :) Hope this has been useful!

Birthday haul: Thank you dearest friends! :')

Thank you to all my dearest friends who have made my birthday a really awesome one! I couldn't ask for better friends and I'm so glad I know all of you! :) This sounds highly cheesy, but I need to appreciate the good people around me.

My friends make my world go round (because my family is such in a dire state) and so I really am grateful to every single one of them!

First up, thanks to eve, ron and gohchaychay for the Soap&Glory Soaper Heroes set + the Sephora mini body cleansers. I'm sure to smell fantastic the coming few weeks. :D

The next one is full marks for presentation. Konkon, kokky and jeremy (AKA FYP GROUPMATES :D) gave me a paper bag full of goodies and homg look what's on the paper bag!!!!!! Confirm framing this up!

Food to last me a few days. Actually I wiped out everything already by now. HEHEHEHEHE.

Thanks chay for the elephant earrings too!! :)

This is a very cool present. IT'S A LIGHTBULB CARD THAT GLOWS. Lovely for lost-in-the-dark days.

Look at this! So cool! :)

MTV folks gave me an awesome shopping experience at H&M. Thanks lizhen, lirong, javior, june, aaron, ivan, rachel and aloyscious. And haha S$20 ah? Cannot bluff me one. :D

This is a surprise omg-they-didnt present. It's my very own Clarisonic cleansing tool! YAY! :') Thanks lily, mervin, zihao, jialiang, yenhao and shangying! HOMG SERIOUSLYYYY!!! :') Been using this for a few days, and yes lily I agree this breaks me out initially. However, nothing can compare with how clean my skin feels after using this!! I'm expecting great results!! Let's wait another few weeks!

My friends are crazy awesome people. I need to treat them better and stop letting my mood swings affect how I treat them! This past year has been a rough one for me, especially after succumbing to my depression tendencies, but I'm glad I have overcome it and I hope everything will go well in the future. Thanks to my dearest friends who have been there all along! :') YOU GUYS ROCK LAHHHH.

Watsons Members Private Sale Haul

Not long ago, Watsons announced a members-only private sale at 31 outlets nationwide, and the discounts were up to 85%! Of course I had to go and take a look! Fortunately, the outlet at Bukit Panjang Plaza (nearest to my house) was one of the 31 and yay I did some damage to my wallet!

It's definitely a good session to stock up on necessities!

I don't really remember the prices anymore, but I was really quite impressed by the crowd management efforts by the staff at Bukit Panjang Plaza. It was crowded as hell, but the queue at the cashier was swiftly settled with and nobody left disgruntled! Great going, Watsons staff members at Bukit Panjang Plaza!!

Also, my cashier said she was going to give me some samples, so I expected one or two samples. NO! She gave me around 15-16 sachets of TheNatureLab Makeup Removing Serum. If you add all that up in a jar or something, it will be half the amount of a full sized bottle! She was really generous and I was so grateful! :D

Here's my haul! I spent just a little bit over 50 bucks for all these (if I remember correctly).

This is the Rimmel makeup set that had everyone going crazy. All 5 items were packaged in a clear plastic bag and they were S$10 altogether! Crazy! I got myself the last set at Bukit Panjang Plaza's Watsons. SCORE! :)

It's really a good event to attend to. You can never walk out of Watsons empty-handed (at least for me and 80% of the female population in Singapore) and it is always sweeter if you walk out paying less than you should be right? :D

Musings while working

Just the fact that I'm updating my blog while at work proves how bored I am at the moment. I am supposed to be coding but I have been doing that for the past 2 hours so I'm obviously getting highly restless.

I'm so highly fidgety that my brain started to think about the future. What do I want in the future?

  • I will like to further my studies. Probably a masters in some research related course. The WKWSCI one seems really tough to apply, especially with the stiff competition.
  • I will like to continue working at MTV. I really hope some sort of miracle happens and the executives decide to grant more budget to the research department and so the department can increase its manpower!
  • I will really like to do some sort of OCIP. I know WKWSCI has one this year but it's really too much for a final year student. I am assuming my recess week will be full of FYP meetings so I refrained myself from joining the rather tempting WKWSCI-OCIP :(
  • I will like to increase blog readership to around 25,000 readers a month by 2014. It's now at 8,000 per month and I'm quite pleased at how the numbers are growing every month (I was at 2,000 per month in December of 2011). Of course I can't compare my numbers with top local bloggers but a target is always good, and a reachable target is even better!
  • Marriage is something I have never put much thought of before my 23rd birthday. But now, I'm quite confused because on one hand, I want to work and be financially strong first, and on the other hand, family pressures force me to think about marriage earlier. My maternal grandmother always exclaims on how she would die happily if she could see me walk down the aisle while she is still alive. Such statements are a nightmare. Why do grandparents do that? :(
  • Kengyang tells me that he's going to be an entrepreneur. I was quite against starting up on your own so early in life because of the many risk factors (unless of course you start something while already rich). Now that I think of it again, you really will put in more effort when you work for something that's yours. If all else fails, I guess I can always go back to helping him? HAHA. Backup plans MUST exist.
I need an organised route. I take surprises and shocks really badly and I need to see the straight path in front of me to feel confident about the future. Obviously, there will be certain situations that I cannot predict, but I prefer most of everything to be laid out nicely.

And I have written for a good 15 minutes. Let's call it a day and find Kengyang and feast on KFC! :D

Birthday Fashion Haul (H&M, F21, New Look & Bugis Street)

I think I pamper myself too much when my birthday comes along. If you want a merry birthday, then you gotta make it happen yourself, no? Usually, I will take some time to venture out into the shopping wilderness alone and let myself buy anything that my heart tells me to.

Of course I don't go crazy and raid every single branded store there is out there. My auntie side still tells me to attack "sale" items and I think getting more items for the same amount of money gives me sugar rush. :D

The H&M items are all courtesy to the lovely MTV colleagues (Lirong, Lizhen, Rachel, June, Ivan, Aaron, Javior and Aloyscious) who very kindly gave me a S$200 H&M gift card. I went crazy and still have yet to spend everything. Can't wait for my next H&M trip! :)

The only things I purchased from New Look were these tribal leggings. They were 50% down and were S$9.95 each! I don't know when my tribal obsession will end but I'm going to continue hunting for more quirky tribal prints till I get sick of them. Heh.

Rings from Forever 21! S$5 each I think. The pretty pair of studs were S$8!

H&M craziness starts now. Some crazy studs for S$3.90. I love how they are studs and not hanging earrings. The bracelets are S$7.90 I think?

My obvious love for tribal prints. O.o

Skirt was S$24.90, and the skinny pants were S$17.90. I don't understand how such an exquisite pair of pants cost S$17.90. H&M really has surprises here and there.

Black lace top for S$17.90, and the floral top for S$5 (on sale)!

Also got this set of ear studs for S$7.90. Reminds me so much of what G-Dragon wears. LOL.

Went out with Chay Teng to Bugis Street and alas I can't leave that place empty-handed!! Confirm buy something one!! D:

Some LUMI accessories at 3 for S$5!

And this ridiculously comfortable tank for S$9!

I think that's around 80% of my birthday haul. More coming in the mail but I can't really remember what I bought. HAHAHAHAHAHAA. Major shopaholic. I NEED TO STOP LUH. CANNOT SHOP FOR 2 WEEKS. ok two-week shopping ban has been set!!!!
