Massive ASOS Haul (Dec 2015 - Jan 2016)

This is excessive. I spent a total of £103.91 (approximately S$215) on 12 items. 
If I divide that total amount with the total quantity bought, I saved a great deal (the total original price for all 12 items was £308, or slightly over S$630). But if I look at this entire post as whole, I shopped way too much. 

1. I'm very vexed about Chinese New Year outfits. This year I need multiple outfits because I'm going back to Indonesia on the second day of CNY. 
2. CNY coupon code from ASOS that slashed another 18% off sale items. 
3. Lack of self control and discipline. 

I'm horrible. 

Before this post turns into a self-castigation attempt, here are the items I purchased. All of them were from the sale section.

Korean Skincare Haul (cosrx, mamonde, apieu)


A couple of weeks ago, I realised that my skin wasn't reacting well to The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Blemish Fade Night Lotion anymore. I am currently still unsure why my skin reacted that way so suddenly. It's all very shocking because I have been using that product for almost 2 years and I had no problems. And then overnight, my skin started getting really clogged up, and once I stopped using that, my skin was less irritated. Why so funny one? 

But whatever, that means I get to find new products for my skin! 

When I was in Copenhagen, I decided to give a COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion sample a go. It was a tiny sachet so it wasn't included in my travel skincare post. 

My skin LOVED it. It was absorbed into my skin so quickly and my skin felt smooth and plump. 3 days in and my large family of tiny bumps finally started to slowly disappear. My skin was not clear, but it definitely was not as clogged as it used to be. 

Immediately off to Googleland to look up this fascinating new brand and wow there are many Korean beauty bloggers who raved about COSRX products! So yes, I succumbed to blogger/Youtuber pressure and bought 4 new COSRX products via RoseRoseShop. Of course must buy masks also right? So yes, got myself a couple of A'PIEU masks and two packs of Mamonde masks. 

I have used the COSRX products for a full week now and I'm very happy to report that I have NO breakouts. YAY YAY! 

Shall give them more time to work their magic and I'll check back in a couple of months' time with in-depth reviews!

Anyway, I'm currently in Copenhagen and the weather here has been LOVELY. Work has been intense but manageable. Colleagues have been really nice as well. More updates on this when I'm back in Singapore.

Zalora Haul (May - July 2015)

ZALORA is truly addictive. I just keep buying and buying because
  • Some items too pretty
  • Prices quite affordable
  • Delivery is easy peasy - I always collect at POPStation. 
  • Can return if I don't like the items - I just secure the items properly, follow the given instructions and return at POPStation. 
I always check out 3 brands - ZALORA, ZALORA Basics and Something Borrowed. Over the years, prices have increased, but the quality of the items have also improved. So I don't mind paying a little bit more. By saying "don't mind paying" means anything less than S$35. 

None of them items below cost more than S$35. Some of them are below S$20/S$15 because they were on sale. 

I also only purchase when I have a promo code.

Tokyo Haul 2015

I just came back from Tokyo a few days ago and the first thing I did was not to do my laundry, but to take photos of my purchases. #priorities

If you are into animes and Uniqlo, then Japan is a shopping paradise! But please also check out GU Japan - it's Uniqlo's sister company and the apparels mostly have the same quality standards as Uniqlo but the prices are much more affordable. 2 years ago, I bought a spring coat for 990yen (~S$12) at a GU outlet in Hiroshima. BARGAIN. 

I also spent way too much money at Akihabara. Not because I bought a lot of things, but because I was cheated and paid so much more for a figurine. I paid 2500yen for an Attack on Titan figurine, felt really happy about it, then walked into Softmap and saw the same item going for 1680yen. Wahlao eh. So yes, I have learnt my lesson and for future Akihabara purchases, I will buy my figurines from huge stores like Softmap and Animate and not from tiny, roadside stalls. =_=

I saved 6000yen for last minute food souvenir shopping at Haneda airport. I always give close friends and family food souvenirs from Japan because who doesn't like pretty food packaged in pretty packaging? Some more almost all of them taste damn nice. Also, they have special Kit Kat flavours at the airport! 

I shall not ramble further. Lai, photos time!!

This was so good!!! A very very good buy. Japan really knows how to make delicious and pretty food. 
An assortment of snacks for Kengyang's family. I don't know what's inside but this was the last pack on the counter, so okay lor, I take. 
This is for my brother! But I already kop-ed one serving and it was a legit bowl of ramen. Tasted like a S$20++ bowl of ramen, but it was ~S$11.50 for 3 servings!! The next time I go to Japan, I will definitely buy more of their instant ramens.

I can only describe the chocolates as "all gone in one sitting". Also, random calf reliever plaster because somewhat same colour family and similarly boxy.

Also, I realised some of them expire in July 2015. I better drink tea 3 times a day from now on. 
Finally some beauty products purchases. Confirm have one. :D
We have Bifesta in Singapore but I have never seen the Acne Care bottle, so I was intrigued. I tried it last night and it's amazing. I need more!
Also, this pack of liese hair wipes is very cool. If you have oily hair in the morning and you don't want to wash your hair, this is a great solution! I tried this a couple of times in Tokyo and wow it's really like as if I just washed my hair?! Just blow dry a bit after wiping and your hair will be damn pong pong (Eng: fluffy) and oil-free! 
3 mascaras for my one pair of eyes. :P
CANMAKE lipsticks and and Eye Brow Gel. The eye brow gels works wonderfully. It's now a staple item!
The CANMAKE lipsticks are very moisturising - excellent for the dry and cold Tokyo weather. However, I think they a bit too shiny for my liking. BAH. 

SPIRITED AWAY cup. SO KAWAII. How can I leave this behind without buying?? 

Attack on Titan figurines! Most people I know love the human characters (Eren lah, Mikasa lah), but I prefer the titans leh.

I was quite disappointed this time round. No nice iPhone cases at all! :(

But they have these nanoblocks. I couldn't decide which to buy (Dragonair or Snorlax) so I bought both.
More Ghibli finger puppets to my collection. I have 14 now! 13 of those 14 are nicely blu tack-ed on my work computer screen, but I LOST TOTORO. OHMYGOSH WHAT A DISASTER. I genuinely felt despair when I realised I lost it. :( 
Lastly, here's a cheeky purchase from Changi Airport before we boarded our flight. My first Jo Malone! Definitely not my last leh, alamak.

ASOS Haul - CNY 2015

I checked my email inbox. 
I was notified an additional 15% off coupon for all ASOS items. 
I reached home, applied some tea tree mask, and browsed ASOS. 
I placed my order. 

That entire process took me less than 2 hours. I was at Chinatown on Chinese New Year's eve and after almost 1 hour of squeezing with the crowd (plus because of my height, I always kenna the BO of taller men), I was out of battery. Then I saw the email while on the car, and MY BATTERY FULLY CHARGED. 

"Lai order, order" - If my brain could express my thoughts aloud, that would be it at that point in time. 

Lesson of the day - A leopard never changes its spots.

Going crazy for Korean cosmetics

I have 3 more products coming from Korea, so the entire haulage is way bigger. Oops.

I just find some Korean cosmetics way more advanced than some Western brands. Traditional is almost always good, but good innovation can make traditional more convenient and more captivating. For one, the BB Cushion is an excellent revolution - even Lancôme is coming out with their own BB Cushion (which under-performed when compared to those from Korean brands, according to some online reviews)!

Fortunately Qoo10 has plenty of listings for Korean cosmetic products from sellers based in South Korea. That means prices are somewhat similar to those in South Korea (additional a few bucks for shipping lah). This is very excellent because as most Singapore dwellers will know, prices are marked up considerably in the local stores. I got the Innisfree Long Wear Cushion for less than S$20 on Qoo10 and it's retailing for more than S$30 at local Innisfree stores! Very excellent indeed, this Qoo10.

This also means I need to rethink and reorganise my makeup cupboard. Time to throw away things to make space for new things! Just in time for CNY cleaning!

MAHOOSIVE ASOS Haul

I admit, I admit - I went a little bit overboard and crazy.
My only two excuses were I had my 12th + 13th month pay in and I had quite a few discount codes. So I purchased these 10 items on 3 different occasions. 

Chinese New Year ho seh liao, no need to worry about clothes. 

I just had my yearly employee review and it will be a great 2015. So, I just upped the amount of my monthly savings (whereby a certain set amount of money will be transferred automatically on a set date every month to a savings account) in order to curb these shopaholic sins. Hey, no shame if you spend within your means, it's all okay if you are financially able. But for me, it's time to save more (my goal this year is over S$20K in savings) for my HDB flat. Kengyang and I want to clear the payments as soon as we can.

I bought one ASOS Maternity item this time. The sweater too chio already. Can keep for very long some more, next time I pregnant, I have one chio sweater in my closet liao! :D

I feel both excited and nervous whenever I write a haul post. Buyer's remorse setting in (not sure if this feeling can be classified as buyer's remorse or not since I didn't really spend damn a lot of money on a big ticket item).

Late night itchy internet-browsing fingers always lead to surprises. I was curious how much shipping fee would be charged if I order from Sleek Makeup, so I loaded my cart with products that I would definitely purchase if the shipping fee was unexpectedly low. It was only 1.67 pound shipping to Singapore via Standard Mail? What?!

I checked out immediately.

Some more I had a 10% off coupon ("welcome10"), so the blush was 3.74 pounds and the eyeshadow palettes were 6.66 pounds each. I paid slightly over S$35 in total for these three items. WHAT?! Please ah, one eyeshadow palette from local online shops already costs more than S$20 hor.

Sometimes, anyhow curious then check things also good.

BLOGMAS Day 18: Zalora Christmas Dresses Haul

So they gave me a VIP 20% off coupon code. On top of that, it was Thursday (Mastercard Thursdays 10% off!). I didn't go all crazy, just bought two dresses and I think they are also wearable for non-Christmas occasions. Sometimes I want to get super glittery dresses with sequins and all that jazz, but I can only wear those dresses once or twice? Might as well get dresses that I can wear on more occasions right? 

I think halter neck tops are very flattering for girls with wide shoulders. I have really wide shoulders and thick arms, hence I look much fatter than I really am in baggy tops. Halter neck tops give that illusion of narrower shoulder and if you have nice shoulders, they really accentuate those areas. Ah can't wait to pick them up at the Pop Station nearest to my house. 

Oh! Have I mentioned how freaking awesome and convenient Pop Stations are? You just opt for pick-up at a Pop Station nearest to your house and everything's done within 4 days. If you don't like what you buy, just return the product in its original condition with the given documents and tag, and place it in one Pop Station box. All will also processed within a week! Super convenient lor!

Zalora is really making online shopping much more fuss-free. That's how online shopping should be! Let's hope more local sites offer such services soon!

BLOGMAS Day 12: Taobao "12.12" Haul

Today's post is a short and sweet one. Work has been rather cruel, but life is made more fulfilling and satisfying when you overcome adversity. 

A quick and sudden swerve back to today's post - I have submitted (yes, another one) a Taobao order and this time it was for their 12.12 sale. Seriously, every day can be sales day. 1.1, 2.2, 3.3, 4.4, 5.5, 6.6, 7.7, 8.8, 9.9 10.10, 11.11, 12.12. All 365 days also can. 

But got sales cannot complain, so yes, hauling time!

BLOGMAS Day 5: Singsale Goodies - Brushes, Toner and Footwear!

I'm suddenly on a Singsale craze again. Initially, I only wanted to take a quick look because it was announced that NYX would have a sale on that day, but there was no time frame given, so I accessed the website in the morning, and kept refreshing. So boring right? Okay, I browsed the website and ohmygosh so many things on sale! I even wanted to get a bed sheet set just because it was discounted and pretty. In the end I had three things in my cart that were NOT from NYX (the sale sucked by the way, it was mostly old stuff) and because my pay was in the day before, I just checked out. 

I was so excited, then after a few days, I realised why I stopped browsing Singsale a few months back - the shipping/delivery is going to take ages! I ordered on 27 November and as of now only two out of three items have been shipped out. One (the Michael Todd toner) just arrived in their warehouse and it will only be shipped out earliest 7 December. So for everything to reach me, I will estimate maybe end of the year? The last time I shopped on Singsale, my items arrived 1.5 months later. 

I guess cannot really blame them because the three things that I purchased were from three different companies from different parts of the world, so getting the items to arrive at their warehouse really depends on when the companies mail the items out. Looking at how I barely can remember things these days, I'd probably forget about all these purchases and be pleasantly surprised when they arrive. "Wah! I got buy this meh??" - this happens way too often. 

I got myself a 24-piece brush set from Bella Brush, my 4th bottle of Michael Todd toner and Therapy & Because sandals. There was also some promotion going on, so I had discounts on top of discounts. I love it when you can stack vouchers! :D 

I don't need more brushes, but I'm lazy to wash all my brushes, so when these come, I may throw some of my old brushes away. I also googled and reviews were not bad!


No need to explain more about this because I raved about it in one of my older posts. This is my 4th bottle!!

BLOGMAS 2014 Day 3: Zalora Haul (December 2014)

Welcome to BLOGMAS day 3! Time is passing way too fast right? We're almost halfway through the first week of December.

I had a scary experience a couple nights ago and it really made me think hard about my health. So yes, I was sleeping with the lights off (very unusual for me because I always need a little bit of light to sleep, but I was damn tired so I didn't care) and I woke up at 3+am with a really weird feeling in my mouth. When I closed my mouth, my saliva glands would overwork and I would have a mouth full of saliva within like 3 seconds. It's freaking scary! I thought it was nothing, so I just swallowed the saliva, but it happened like 4-5 times. So okay, I sat up and wanted to calm myself down, but I felt this sudden wave of nausea. I went to the toilet and was prepared to vomit it all out when everything felt normal again. WHAT IS THIS?! I woke up the next morning (a Sunday - super wasted) with a migraine that lasted almost the entire day. :( This happened again last night and I really was quite shaken. What if I didn't wake up and choked to death? That would be a really stupid way to die. 

When I told my mom, she suggested that I see a specialist because "this kind of thing cannot play one you know?" - which I truly agree. So yes, to the specialst we go! 

Also, I cannot wait for my facial session tomorrow.  I have been really stressed at work and my skin is protesting. So many facial demons on my face!!!! BAH! 

Whenever I'm stressed at work, I always browse shopping sites and I almost always end up buying something. Like the below purchases, they were all added into my shopping cart in office. Zalora always have the best deals and the below purchases were made on 3 occasions. 2 on a Thursday (to make use of the Mastercard Thursdays promotion) and 1 on Black Friday. I think all my Zalora orders have been made with some form of promo/discount codes stacked. Super cheapo but got cheap thrill, quite awesome. 

Two dresses for myself! I hope it's cold tomorrow morning so that I can wear a sweater over the blue shirt dress, and then complete the ensemble with a pair of boots/glittery oxfords. :D

BLOGMAS 2014 DAY 2: New in - Charles & Keith Slip-ons


It is day 2 of BLOGMAS and I'm still diligently following my blogging schedule. All is good. All is always good if I follow what I wrote on my lists. Almost every situation in my life is governed by lists. "List of things to do today", "Christmas shopping list", "List of outfits to match a pair of white Converse".... I can go on forever. The feeling of utmost satisfaction and relief when I tick a task off my list is quite addictive. I guess I feel more productive when I tick things off. 

Random self-reflection aside, how absolutely fabulous is this pair of slip-ons from Charles & Keith. I have always wanted a nude/taupe/brown pair of slip-ons with the metal-tip detail, but they were either too expensive or they made my legs look bigger than they already are. *sad face* Kengyang and I went to Anchorpoint just on a whim, and I pulled him to the Charles & Keith outlet store. SO MANY AMAZINGG PAIRS OF SHOES AT HUGELY DISCOUNTED PRICES. I had to control myself though and in the end I got this amazing pair of pointed slip-ons. Not only do they fulfill everything I wanted in a slip-on, they also made my legs look normal (pointed toe effect?). 

Also, while purchasing this pair of shoes, I had a major revelation - Kengyang is really the man for me. You know how some guys will just stand outside waiting for their girlfriends to finish shopping? Kengyang is NOTHING like that. Instead, he had more questions than I had on shoes that I had taken interests in. Very trivial things lah, but really made me realise that I have made the correct life decision. Okay okay, since I mention this already I shall just explain what happened - initially I wanted to purchase a size 38 without giving much thought into it because I'm usually a size 38, so no biggie right? Kengyang pushed me to trying both size 37 and size 38 because he said size 38 looked a little bit too loose. So okay, I tried size 37 (albeit quite unwillingly lol) and wah size 37 really fit me better?? How many guys will do this you tell me?!?!?!?! So yes, Mr Chung, don't run away liao ah. 

See lah, I went into random mode again. I hope I still have readers who enjoy my anyhow way of writing. :D

November 2014 Online Haul: ZALORA and ASOS

So I said I will not shop online because I'm going to Bangkok. Obviously, that determination got lost halfway. I ended up spending less than S$100 on these products from Zalora and ASOS, thanks to many many discount codes. I had the ASOS items in my cart and I didn't check out because I was preparing to check them out if I couldn't find similar things in Bangkok, BUTTTT ASOS tweeted a code for an additional 10% off items on Sunday morning, and I immediately checked the 3 things out. And then I went back to sleep. :D 

Zalora has Mastercard Thursdays - 10% off your total if you use a Mastercard to purchase your items on a Thursday. Also, I had a 15% discount code on top of the 10% off, so...just whack right?

Review: Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix

I have extremely oily skin, and the oiliness is quite rampant on the T-zone area, the cheeks and the eyelids. Basically the only not-so-oily parts are my temples and jawline. What a nightmare. 

Having lived with overactive sebum glands for more than 5 years now, I have come to accept the fact that my foundation and concealer will never stay matte for more than 3 hours. Blotting and touching up has become a habit and so I'm not very concerned with my oily T-zone and cheeks. Actually, come to think of it, I used to have combination skin with manageable sebum production. But once I hit my twenties, my hormones went lunatic. Boohoo, what to do but suck it up? 

However, there's one thing I absolutely hate about my oily skin and that's my extremely oily eyelids. Blotting and touching up foundation is easy peasy, but the case is doubly hard when it comes to creasing eyeshadow on very oily lids. I abhor oily eyelids with a vengeance. This is why I'm always on the lookout for amazing eyeshadow primers that can minimise the oily mess. So far, the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and the Lorac Behind The Scenes Eye Primer have been excellent and truly gifts sent from above for those with oily lids. However, they are not very cheap, and I finally have found a perfect dupe for the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. It's only S$11 from Luxola! Cheap leh, very cheap!! 

The Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix retails for S$11 for a 7.5ml tube, while the Urban Decay one retails for S$33 for a 11ml tube. Lazy to do math now, but yes the Zoeva one is definitely more bang for the buck, especially when it's as good as the Urban Decay's. 


Paraben-free and fragrance-free! Excellent for those with sensitive eyelids.




Ingredients list


Packaging: The Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix has an economical packaging. It's packaged in a squeeze tube with a long and precise needle tip. You can dispense the exact amount of product that you want every single time and you can finish up the entire 7.5ml easily. Some primers have very stupid packaging where a doe-foot applicator is pumped in to get some product out. You will never use the entire tube this way! So this packaging is great. Also, it's entirely semi-matte black with grey lettering. Looks fancy but quite inexpensive.



Texture and application: The Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix has a semi-thick consistency that's extremely silky to the touch. It blends and spreads very easily and evenly. Once applied, you don't notice any product on your eyelids because it blends well with your natural eyelid colour. Application is easy-peasy and fast because of how blendable the product is. A little of this goes a long way. I especially love the product description on Luxola - "It’s concentrated: the size of a raindrop from the needle nose squeeze-tube covers the entire lid." Definitely agree with that!



Effectiveness: I truly believe that this is one of the best performing eye primers in the market, especially if you have oily eyelids. The Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix does help to make eyeshadows a little bit more vibrant than if applied on naked eyelids, but there are other primers that do a much better job at this component. However, in terms of keeping oily eyelids matte, the Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix is quite competent and impressive. For those looking for an eye primer to make your eyeshadows pop more, I wouldn't suggest this one, but the Lorac one is great at that! 

Longevity: My eyeshadow stayed in place - no creasing, no smudging - for more than 10 hours. How freaking insane is that?! 'Nuff said. 

Will I buy it again? YES!! But it's out of stock now, NOOOOOOOO!! I shall add myself to the waitlist. BAH...
