Review: Etude House Play Nail Colour (#10, #23, #27, #36, #81, #98)

Do I need more nailpolishes? Nope, definitely not.
Do I want more nailpolishes? YES, PLEASE!

It's crazy. I have two boxes of nailpolishes already and I still don't want to stop my purchases because there are so many brands and varieties and pretty colours out there! How to stop?! You teach me how!!

I saw these Etude House Play Nail Colours on Qoo10 and since they're retailing for S$2.50 each, I decided to just cart 6 of them! They have 100 different colours - not getting more than 6 is already a miracle. If you haven't realised it yet, I'm justifying (more like over-justifying) my impulse purchase every single time. Oops?

Here are the 3 links to all 100 colours:

I purchased 6 colours, of which 2 are very similar. I expected them to be different, but the slight difference can only be seen under sunlight. In a poorly lit room, they both look exactly the same. Oh well ~~

Here are the 6 colours that I purchased, in ascending numerical order:
  • #10 - A highlighter coral pink
  • #23 - A muted reddish pink
  • #27 - A slightly muted berry red (this looks really similar to #10)
  • #36 - A basic nude colour
  • #81 - A very glossy aquamarine blue
  • #98 - A muted dark grey
My personal favourite colour has got to be #23. Photos below!

#27 - This applies evenly and did not streak. It's a bright colour but not something that will garner too much unwanted attention. A great colour for the weekends/for the beach!
#98 - I love this muted dark grey colour. It applies evenly and streaking was minimal. I wear a lot of blacks and greys so this is a good match when I'm feeling less adventurous.
#36 - It's a gorgeous shade but so frustrating to apply! It's generally more difficult to formulate a nude colour and it's obvious Etude House faced some problems in the process, and sadly didn't address those problems. The above photo was taken after 3 applications and each application was streaky and left uneven patches.
#81 - This colour reminds me of a lighter version of Essie's Mesmerize. I love how striking the aquamarine blue shade is and it's a definite head turner. Application was a little challenging because the brush tends to grab onto more product than it should, hence application can be a little bit gloppy. It's strange how only this shade has such a brush...
#10 - Oh man this is such a loud colour! It definitely will add a lot of pizzazz to someone who likes to dress themselves in monochromatic colours.  Application was fuss-free and very even.
#23 - My utmost favourite colour of the bunch. It's such a work-appropriate shade! I love how the mutedness adds a little bit of feminity. This had the best application and the best longevity. I had this on for 6 days and it only chipped a little on the 5th day! For S$2.50, this is an excellent buy!

All these Etude House Play Nail Colours have different textures, different brushes and all applies differently - Etude House definitely did not do a good job in terms of consistency of these nail polishes.

However, one consistent factor will be how long-lasting the nail polishes are. I wore them all for at least 4 days and only the highlighter pink (#10) chipped on the 3rd day; the rest survived the 4 days with no chipping.

Will I buy it again? I'm excited to try other colours. For S$2.50 each, it's a bargain. If you're lucky enough, you may get a shade that's performing much better than expensive ones!

Have a great weekend guys and hope this has been useful!

Review: O.P.I The Bondettes Collection (Inspired by SKYFALL)

I went into the Smoochiezz stand at Tanjong Pagar not knowing which nailpolish I should get, but I know I will get some nailpolish! And sure enough, I tried hard to only choose one set, and I walked out with the O.P.I The Bondettes Collection (Inspired by SKYFALL) and also some other stuff, which you can read about on my haul post

This set is GORGEOUS. I love my reds, dark deep colours and glitters and this set has all of them. Precisely why I got the set in the first place!

The set costs S$20! I think if you get it online (ASOS for example), it's much more expensive, so yay Smoochiezz!

The colours didn't look nice when I took the photos using natural lighting! I have no idea why because I'm a noob photographer, but maybe because it's too cloudy?

Colours from left to right:

  • GoldenEye
  • The Spy Who Loved Me
  • The World Is Not Enough
  • Live and Let Die

GoldenEye looks like your basic gold glitter nailpolish but ohnonono, it's a yellow-tinted base nailpolish with gold glitters and gold shimmers in it. The glitters and shimmers are extremely fine and when you apply it, you don't get chunky applications. It's very smooth and your nails look so festive! :D

The Spy Who Loved Me is a warm tone red with fine gold shimmer. It's like trying to go sensual and funky at the same time!

The World Is Not Enough is a sheer metallic grey with fine multi-colour shimmers. I'm quite disappointed with this nailpolish. When I say sheer, it's REALLY sheer. If the colour came true to what I saw from the bottle, then it's a perfect colour! But no, I had to layer 3 coats to get like 75% of the pigmentation. :(

Live and Let Die is what I have on my nails right now. As always, I will turn to the dark colours first! Live and Let Die is a dark navy with fine glitter shimmers. It's really quite gorgeous because when the colour catches the sunlight, it turns into this glorious multi-dimensional colour. LOVE IT.

All 4 swatched on my fingernails. Sorry for this bad photo quality. :(

Anyway, look at The World Is Not Enough (2nd from right), this intensity was only achieved after 3 coats. I'm beyond depressed because the colour is so gorgeous but it's not showing up right!!

Can't wait to change to GoldenEye next week!! :)

Have a great day everyone! For those with exams, MUG ON!!

Recent nailpolish acquisitions (Etude House, Seche Vite, Northern Lights Topcoat and more!)

My nailpolish collection is growing alarmingly and I really got to control myself since I only use my existing nailpolishes once each! I need to either stop buying, or use 10 colours at the same time. Everytime I see a new beauty shop, the first section that I will head to will be the nailpolish section. I think the main reason why is because nailpolishes are the more affordable products. I used to love going to the blusher section, but ohgawd blushers are expensive, eh?

During my weekend trip to Bangkok, I managed to get some nailpolishes from The Beauty Buffet (the website so cute, all pink and the home page is now emblazoned with the Thai king's portrait. I think it was his birthday?). I got myself some highlighter orange, highlighter purple and a pretty metallic pink (chosen by my sister). The packaging's crazy cute too! And really different, especially with the brown theme and all.

I also got myself some Etude House nailpolishes since they were on sale on Qoo10! So cheap and delivery was stellar.

And my teeny tiny topcoats arrived too!!

I think mini topcoats are great because my full-sized Seche Vite topcoat got so gooey and sticky and urgh before I can even use up half of the bottle. :'( Application was terrible with it because every single application was so stringy! It's like super glue stringy. Ew.

So I immediately ordered when I saw these tiny topcoats going on sale on Qoo10. I heard so much about the Northern Lights topcoats too, and so I ordered the one with silver flecks too!

Size of topcoats compared to The Beauty Buffet nailpolish

Just look at this topcoat. IT IS TOO PRETTY. HO MAI GAWD.

It definitely dries as fast as Seche Vite topcoat but it's less glossy. I'd prefer it to be more glossy, but well the amazing fine specks of multi-dimensional silver specks made up for it! :)

New ZOYA nailpolishes!

New nailpolishes again! I bought these ZOYA nailpolishes on Qoo10 for S$5.90 each (+ S$1 shipping). That is a bargain because these nailpolishes have excellent quality!!

After this blog post, I'm gonna buy 2 more! :))

Zero complaints about these nailpolishes (I bought Heidi and Reece). Applies smoothly, excellent applicator and dries quite fast. YAY ZOYA

Here's a nails-of-the-week post, featuring my nails bathed in Heidi. I was hoping the colour will be more neon, but oh well this is pretty too!!

HAHA, Clara, Hui ling and I sported the same colour group nails last week! Just had to take a shot for Instagram. Kenneth called us "nail sistasss". HAHAHA.

Review: Innisfree Eco Nail Colours

Just a few weeks ago, I went on a nailpolish frenzy on Qoo10 because for some reason they were having so many timed sales on different nailpolishes! For those who are new to Qoo10, it's an online shopping portal based in Singapore and it was originally known as Gmarket Singapore. Twice everyday, they will have Timed Sales on different products that will be heavily discounted for a period of 6 hours. To be honest I really do check Qoo10 twice a day to see if anything catches my eye #shopaholic.

Just when I wanted to try more Korean brand nailpolishes, Innisfree Eco Nail Colours were having a crazy Timed Sale! Originally each was S$3.50 (already a steal), but because of the Timed Sale, each nailpolish was now S$1.90. Naturally I bought more than I needed, but hey! The colours were really really eye-catching and they had so many glitter polishes!!

Here's the link for those who want to try the nailpolishes out (no more Timed Sale though): http://list.qoo10.sg/gmkt.inc/Goods/Goods.aspx?goodscode=406797230

Also, I need to comment on the delivery service. I was so scared that the nailpolishes will break during the postage process, but the seller wrapped everything perfectly in plenty of bubble wrap, so I was a happy customer! The delivery time is quite slow though but they send the items from Seoul, so you can't expect instant postage right?

Here are some photos (taken from the Qoo10 product site) of the pretty nailpolish colours! :) I'm in love with all the glitter colours!

ANNNNDDDDDD I really went crazy, buying 9 nailpolishes at a go. Call me a shopaholic, I ADMIT THAT I AM. :D But I'm a shopaholic who takes advantages of crazy bargains! :D

Look at all those glitters!!!!! *drools*

This is #106 - the most glitterfied nailpolish in the bunch. I love how it includes glitters of every colour and shape! Amazing staying power too! I have it on now and it has been a week and NO CHIPPING AT ALL! :)

#85 - a milky pink base colour littered with pink and silver glitter chunks. Quite good on its own (layered), but I think it looks best with a hot pink colour underneath!

#74 - pink glitter bonanza. The formula is a bit thick on this one, so I think it's more tricky to apply.

#96 - a silver shimmer base nailpolish with blue flecks. AMAZINGGG

#71 - I will call this a christmas glitter party because of the gold, green and red glitters combination!

#102 - another silver shimmer base nail polish but this time with finer pink glitters. I will definitely apply this on its own. Too pretty!

#69 - A very rich navy blue. This photo seriously does the real colour NO justice.

#89 - a mix of turquoise and sky blue. Very unique!

#94 - pearl pink with gold shimmers. Amazing colour but applies rather thinly.

In all, I think these nailpolishes are beyond my expectations. I can't really go into individual nailpolishes because I haven't tried all of them yet, but based on the two that I have on right now (#94 as a base and #106 as the glitter pow-wow), I'm highly impressed. Staying power is extremely surprising and I didn't even reapply my topcoat!

Do get some if you want to try some affordable nailpolishes! :) Hope this has been useful!

Review: Lioele Nail Colour

Recently, I made a purchase for some nailpolishes on Qoo10 just to try them out. In all, these Lioele Nail Colours have been nothing less than impressive and I have newfound trust for Korean brands now!

Here's the link to those who want to try them out as well! http://list.qoo10.sg/gmkt.inc/Goods/Goods.aspx?goodscode=406276895

I bought them at S$1.90 each due to a timed sale. Currently, they are retailing for S$3.90 each. 4 bucks for a great nailpolish is still too good to miss! I actually like them better than China Glaze nailpolishes! :) Nothing beats Deborah Lippmann nailpolishes though. I had the fortune to try one out last year during exchange and OMG I NEED THEM IN MY LIFE. But of course with a price tag like that, I can't get Deborah Lippmann nailpolishes without feeling sorry for my wallet. :'(

Back to the stars of this post!

Here are the colour selection for Lioele Nail Colours. I bought #18, #28 and #37!

Thanks mysune.com for the photo!

#37 left, #28 middle and #18 right

I realised they have English names haha. So it's lavender (left), modern mint (centre) and blue purple (right)

Swatches under camera flash

I don't normally do nailpolish reviews because I'm not as professional as the real-deal nailpolish reviewers on the blogosphere, but for these babies, I'M GOING TO BREAK MY OWN RULE.

Pigmentation was amazing, two coats did the trick for me and they were not streaky coats. Smooth and no sights of those disgusting tiny bubbles. The brush was also very pleasant to use, much more pleasant than China Glaze's irritatingly rough brush that make application a nightmare.

I know this is a really slipshod and amature nailpolish review, but please do get them if you want to try on Korean brand nailpolishes. Simply amazing!

I hope this has been helpful! :) Thanks for reading! HAPPY NATIONAL DAY SINGAPORE!

Favourite copper nailpolish: O.P.I Warm and Fozzie from The Muppets collection

I have officially found the best and prettiest metallic copper nailpolish, and it's from O.P.I's The Muppets Collection! :)

Rainbow Connection reminds me of the Deborah Lippmann nailpolish that created a huge frenzy in the beauty world huh? I think it's called "Happy Birthday"? So here's an cheaper alternative for those who want multiple chunly colourful glitters on a nail. I think to a nailpolish addict, these kinds of nail-polishes are like ecstasy on tap.

ANYWAY, I was about to talk about Warm and Fozzie! Got carried away there. hehe.

The entire The Muppets line from O.P.I. I'm gravitating towards the glittery options. Look at that crazy cyan blue gone wild. !!!!!!.

Warm and Fozzie is definitely a glitter nailpolish, however it will also appeal to those who hate chunky glitters. The glitter particles in Warm and Fozzie are very very fine. More like powdered disco ball. The more interesting thing is that it does not only have one type of glitter, but many! Under different lighting, I spot green and pink glitters too! SHO PRETTY!! :)

Definitely my favourite nailpolish at the moment!

PHOTOS PHOTOS PHOTOS!

And as with all glitter nailpolish, this was A BITCH to remove. HAHA. Oh well ~~~
