Review: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

I cannot do without toning in my skincare routine. It just doesn't feel complete without a toner. It's especially crucial for my oily and acne-prone skin which is laden with makeup almost everyday because it helps to get rid of the excess junk on my skin that was not removed by the makeup remover and cleanser. Furthermore, most toners restores the pH level of your skin quickly - when you use cleansers (well most of them lah), your skin's pH level gets tampered. This disturbance is not beneficial to the skin and without a toner, the skin will still work to reinstate the pH level, but with toner, this work gets done quicker. I also truly believe that a good toner can act as a humectant - it helps a moisturiser moisturise better by locking in the moisture (this sentence like tongue twister haha).

In the past, I used the Michael Todd Organic Lemon Toner and it was a great toner. It didn't break me out and the refreshing smell was a huge plus, especially when applying in those dreary mornings. My moisturiser was also absorbed quickly and it kept my acne at bay. But, the huge problem is cost and long shipping time. Michael Todd is based in USA and so purchasing items and having them delivered to my house in Singapore is not cheap and not fast enough.

Hence, a change is needed.

I recently subscribed to a lot of Korean beauty youtubers and many of them were gushing about the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner. I bought mine from Qoo10 for S$20.70 (500ml) with free normal mail.

I was both excited and anxious. This promised 10 benefits, how exciting right?? But at the same time, I was hoping that this will not cause my skin to break out.

In case my photo's too small, here are the stated 10 benefits of the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner:
  1. Balances skin's ideal pH level
  2. Refines skin tones
  3. Keeps the elasticity of pores
  4. Removes skin surface's dead skin cells
  5. Cleanses pore insides with cooling effect
  6. Deep cleanses pores
  7. Minimizes appearance of pores
  8. Controls a large amount of sebum
  9. Moisturizes inside and outside of skin
  10. Completes smooth glass-like texture (???)
I think they cheated a bit. Isn't point 5 exactly the same as point 6? Okay maybe the addition of "cooling effect" creates the difference. Also, what is point 10?? Why do I want "glass-like texture"??

But you know what, let's not judge a product by its English description.

My order of Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner came with 50 pieces of Etude House Wonder Pore Daily Cotton Pad. These cotton pads have two sides with different textures - one more rough to help with the dead skin cells and the other smooth and soft just like other cotton pads.

I use the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner with the given cotton pads only at night because I don't want to use the rough side on my skin twice in a single day. It's necessary to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, but too much can also harm your skin.

But then again, when all 50 pieces have been used up, I don't think I will get more of such cotton pads from Etude House. The usual cotton pad will do just fine.

My most favourite aspect of the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner is the brilliant product packaging! It's similar to those nail polish removers used at nail salons! You just take a cotton pad and with the cotton pad, cover the top of the toner and press down several times. The product is dispensed easily with less effort and less mess. Also, it's a great recyclable bottle! Good job Etude House!

Yes, I'm more excited about the product packaging than the product itself.

Personally, I think the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner is alright. It didn't break me out and it definitely made my moisturiser sink in faster. But I don't see a difference in the size of my pores (I have used this for close to a month) and I don't see any skin texture refining. I'm only using it because it prepares my skin for my moisturiser well. And of course, the product packaging gave it many many bonus points.

If you have oily, acne-prone skin, the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner will be a suitable toner to use. However, if you have normal to dry skin, you may want to skip this as the high alcohol content may be too drying for your skin.

Since I bought the 500ml bottle, I think I'm good in the toner department till the end of the year. Repurchasing it will not happen though. I think I want to find a toner that can help more with my acne-prone skin, like reducing redness of acne areas. I can always get another one and replace the packaging with the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner's right? :D

Have a great day ahead guys! :) Do let me know if you know of any suitable toners that I should try!

Review: Etude House Color Lips-fit (PK003 Fantasy Fit Pink)

I'm back, I'm back!! Hoorah!

A new digital camera really is different. iPhone 5's camera is amazing, but the Canon G7X is still much better for review posts. The problem is I still can't figure out how to use the macro function properly. Like how come always looks great on the screen, but when the photo is taken, there's this strange blurring effect? I read so many forums and I still don't understand. I'm going to meet Chay at the end of the month and she's going to analyse this strange phenomena for me since she's the expert.

For now, the photos still nice lah, but not as sharp as I want them to be. Hopefully they will get better once we figure out the blurring problem!

A couple of months back (before my old camera died on me), I bought a lot, a lot, a lot of Korean beauty products from Qoo10 (this post!) and now I finally have the resources to properly review them. First up, the Etude House Color Lips-fit in PK003 Fantasy Fit Pink. I bought PP501 Brave Fit Berry as well, but that was sold out. I'm going to hunt for that shade because I like the consistency and wear of this lip product, and Brave Fit Berry is a gorgeous deep berry pink!

I bought the Etude House Color Lips-fit for S$10.90 (additional S$0.60 normal mail) on Qoo10. I think it's S$15 in Etude House Singapore stores.

Expectations:

  • moisturising
  • easy application ("glides")
  • high pigmentation
  • lightweight
  • dries to semi-matte finish

Packaging: I'm always a fan of lip tints/liquid lipsticks that have clear packaging. This way, I can quickly choose my lip product without opening 10+ other lip products. The Etude House Color Lips-fit has that ideal packaging! Other than that, the product packaging is fuss-free and nothing too special or fancy.

Pigmentation: Well, one expectation fulfilled! The Etude House Color Lips-fit is incredibly pigmented. The swatch photos below were taken only after one swipe from the doe-foot applicator. Very impressive ah. Just like the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams! Now I'm really excited to hunt down that deep berry colour!

Colour: PK003 Fantasy Fit Pink is a subtle barbie pink. Nothing too loud or neon, but still has that appealing factor. It's suitable for everyday wear, perfect when you want to add a little bit more colour to your lips. I prefer this shade of pink because you don't look too OTT. Pink shades like Barbie pink or Nicki Minaj pink are too flamboyant for my liking.

Lighting: Normal daylight

Lighting: Normal daylight + camera flash
Application: Very smooth and easy application. No streakiness at all! It's quite moisturizing, and yet it's not sticky/glossy. This is the type of liquid lipsticks that I love the most. Some liquid lipsticks are sooooo moisturising and sooooo glossy. Go out of my house 5 minutes and I'll be eating my own hair already. The Etude House Color Lips-fit and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream have now become my top 2 liquid lipsticks! I need more shades!

Longevity: This product dries within 5 minutes of application and it dries to a beautiful semi-matte finish that I always prefer in a liquid lipstick. The Etude House Color Lips-fit feels lightweight on the lips, and there's no stickiness. The vibrancy and pigmentation lasted for a good 5 hours. It's not as long-lasting as I want it too, but touching up doesn't bother me at all. Some lip products are nightmares to touch up because they feel so caked up on your lips. For this one, touching up feels like no touch-ups at all. Very strange ah, but I like it.

Special mention: THIS SMELLS SO SO SO SO GOOD. If you grew up in Indonesia, you will know of Sugus. It's like the Indonesian version of Japanese Hi-Chew. The Etude House Color Lips-fit smells just like the grape-flavoured sugus. OH MY GOSH. NOMS.

Here is my favourite sugus.

Wait. I just googled and Sugus is actually Swiss. MIND BLOWN! But aiyah, I only had them when I was in Indonesia, so ok lah, they are "Indonesian" to me.

Have a great week guys! :D More review posts coming soon!

New year, new skincare products

It's a very scary decision to switch skincare products when your skin is sensitive to new products. I can get a breakout just ONE DAY after applying a product that's not suitable for my skin. It's exasperating how my skin has evolved from a normal type in my teenage years to a oily sensitive acne-prone type in my mid-twenties.

I have used mostly the same products for the past year or so and I have noticed that they are no longer doing much to my skin. I still get occasional pimples and the areas with acne scars are not improved. My skin has probably gotten use to The Body Shop Tea Tree products and I was quite eager to try out new products.

However, it wasn't easy deciding which products to use next. My skin is incredibly sensitive to heavily moisturising/whitening/brightening/anti-ageing products. During this year's Chinese New Year, I purchased a Lunamer AC trial kit (specially for troubled skin) and they included 2 sachets of lotion. Since I had 2 sachets of lotion and one 30ml bottle of lotion, I decided to use up the sachets first. Stupid me. I didn't read the product names correctly. The 2 sachets contained lotion that was "Moist Type", and the bottle contained lotion that was "Normal Type". The lotion that I used was incredibly moisturising and my skin couldn't take it. I had so many pimples and congestion going on along my jaw line and upper lip area after that and my Chinese New Year was just very depressing. I only noticed I was using the wrong product like 4-5 days after, and so the situation worsened and only a facial extraction session could fix it quickly.

I did a gargantuan amount of research and I finally decided on the above products:

  • Etude House AC Clinic Toner
  • Etude House AC Clinic Gel Lotion (for morning use)
  • Laneige Trouble Relief Cream (for night use)
  • Naruko Tea Tree Shine Control & Blemish Clear Night Gelly (to use before sleep)
I have used Etude House AC products before and I loved most of the products (the cleanser's too drying so I'm not a fan of that), so I decided to give these 2 products a try! Hopefully the toner can replace my Michael Todd organic toner. The Laneige cream was highly recommended for those suffering from adult hormonal acne, so I'm intrigued to see how it will help me improve (hopefully!) my skin condition. I also have used Naruko Tea Tree Mask before and I loved the cooling sensation, hence I'm hoping the night gelly will have the same effect.

I'm highly excited, and equally anxious.

I want to incorporate new products, but I really don't know how my skin will take them.

*fingers crossed*

If all goes well, I'll update this platform with a revised skincare routine.

Wish me all the best!! *fingers crossed again!*

Current favourite foundation tip: Cushion puff + liquid foundation!

Recently, I have been obsessed with this foundation application technique.

Etude House BB Cushion puff + my favourite Bourjois liquid foundation = natural looking makeup with enough coverage.

So yes, I need to share this amazing application technique.
My own photo from this post
This should work with BB Cushion Puffs from any of the Korean brands since they are all essentially the same thing.

After application, my skin looks dewy, healthy and almost flawless. Areas that are supposed to look highlighted are highlighted, redness and acne scars are sufficiently concealed. I love this application!

I realised the main selling point of these BB Cushions is definitely the puffs. It allows maximum coverage because you are applying in a patting motion and not in swiping motion. Moreover, these puffs are designed to absorb as little product as possible - this characteristic already makes puffs a better tool to use than regular sponges or the generic foundation brushes. I used to like applying liquid foundation with my fingers, but I had a brand that oxidised every single time I applied using my fingers, making my face look like a streaky mess. The BB Cushion puffs will fix this as well! When applying with such a puff, you are less likely to transfer your body heat to your skin - less chances for those oxidation-prone foundations to turn a couple of shades darker.

Talking about BB Cushions, I tried the Innisfree Long Wearing one for a week and oh my gosh it's so drying. I have a post coming up describing my unpleasant experience. :( But hor, I found the perfect solution to this too-drying problem. Wait up for the next post ah! :D

Can't wait for the weekends to come. Hurry hurry!!

Upcoming: Etude House Lock’n Summer Proof 10 Cushion Lock’n Liner

Very very excellent. I'm still fascinated with the Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion and now they have eyeliners in cushion version? Genius!

Of course, I had to immediately buy a couple on Qoo10. Anything for my blog right? Hehehehe. They were very affordable, S$7.50 each only!

I got the Etude House Lock’n Summer Proof 10 Cushion Lock’n Liner in Black and Brown. Very boring lor, I know. I wanted to get that amazing midnight blue but I won't get as much wear out of it, so yes, I stuck with my everyday colours.

Can't wait for them to arrive in the mail. Aiyoh more eyeliners to play. So exciting! :D

Review: Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion in Honey Beige W24

I'm such a laggard when it comes to trying out new cosmetic technology and innovation. I have heard of the various BB Cushions in the market but I have yet to try any...till now. At first, I thought this beauty invention was just a gimmick, but ah, I couldn't be more wrong.

Paydays are my favourite days. Not only because they make me feel happy about the financial department, but also because the sudden surge in moolah pushes me to buy new products to try out, like this Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion. I bought it for S$20.50 on Qoo10

I'm a BB Cushion convert, and here's why...

There are 3 shades available on the Qoo10 site:

  • N02 Light Beige
  • W13 Natural Beige
  • W24 Honey Beige
As with most of South Korean foundation-type products, you have limited choice when it comes to finding the shade to match your skin. I bought the darkest one out of the lot (W24 Honey Beige) and I think it's still too light for me.

Every single time I use the Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion, I will skip the sunscreen. It has SPF50+/PA++! I think that is a good number for a hot and humid weather like Singapore's.

Ingredients list

Packaging: A slightly hefty round compact that scores high marks in terms of product hygiene. There's a plastic separator between the puff and the cushion. The cushion is also sealed and you have to remove the safety seal before usage.

How to use: The application process is quite different, but it's not rocket science. You take the given puff and press the blue side on the cushion till you get the desired amount of product. Then you apply the puff on your face by either patting it on or spreading it all over the face. The application will have to depend on your skin condition and what you want out of the product. Relatively clear and smooth skin? Then spreading it all over is enough. If you have redness or acne to cover up, the pat the puff on the area - more coverage this way!

Usefulness of provided puff: It's marketed as the Collagen Air Puff and I understand why there's no "sponge" anywhere in the name. This puff doesn't absorb the product like a sponge! It picks up the cream and the cream will stay at the surface without getting absorbed. When you apply it on your face, you are applying what you dispensed out of the cushion. No wastage due to absorption! Also, the puff makes application a breeze. It also makes the cream look more even and smooth as compared to when you apply using your fingers.

Product consistency/texture: The Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion has a runnier consistency than the usual BB creams. I guess this slightly liquid consistency helps the puff pick up the cream better.

Application: As mentioned briefly above, application with the aid of the puff is a breeze. I don't know how they created the puff; it's amazing! Now I use it with my other liquid foundations too. First of all, the cream applies beautifully and evenly. The puff also ensures that the product is not just sitting on top of large pores and making them more obvious. With the puff, the Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion makes any large pores miraculously disappear. It's not an exaggeration - I have huge pores around my nose area and after using the puff with any of my liquid foundations, they are no longer as pronounced. I can't even see them anymore unless I go really close to the mirror.

Starting from the left:
1. Bare skin
2. One layer of Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion
3. Two layers of Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion
Coverage: The Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion has a medium coverage that's definitely buildable to a full coverage. As you can see from the photo above, one layer of Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion can cover most redness. Two layers can conceal the redness and acne better. Even after two layers, my skin doesn't look cakey or thick. It still looks like ... my skin... but better! For those with dry skin, you don't need the loose powder at all. This dries to a semi-matte finish. However, if you're like me and you have overworked sebaceous glands, then yes, loose powder is a must to finish things off.

Longevity: This lasted a good 3-4 hours before my skin looked like an oil spill occurred. I'm not complaining though because the product won't move when you blot. You don't get that irritating uneven patches on your face after the tissue/blotter picked up some product in the process. This will work VERY well for users with normal to combination skin. You will have dewy skin by the end of the day!

Will I buy it again? Wah I definitely will. It has high SPF and it has coverage that can rival liquid foundations. Moreover, the given puff is AMAZING. Of course will buy again lah. I hope Etude House provides more shades. So many people will love your product you know? Expand your target market!!

Hope this has been helpful! Have a great day guys! :)

Quick review: Etude House Color My Brows

As I get older, I pay more attention to my eyebrows. I have extremely thick and bushy eyebrows. A set that's almost impossible to manage without regular trimming and shaving. Another problem is that my eyebrows have really black hairs. Many beauticians said that my eyebrows were the best to work on because they were so thick and dark. However, I'm not a certified beautician who can magically transform a set of unruly eyebrows. I find them really irritating to be honest, especially when my hair colour is significantly lighter than my eyebrows.

I scrutinise them way too much, maybe more than a normal person should.

Hence, I caved and decided to give the Etude House Color My Brows in #4 Natural Brown. I was hoping that this brow product will do a decent job in lightening the colour of my eyebrows, and it certainly did.

The Etude House Color My Brows is now my go-to brow product! I don't use an eyebrow pencil anymore because I'm not proficient enough in using it for a well-diffused, blurred-at-the-edges look. So, this brow product is excellent!

The Etude House Color My Brows targets customers who have too-dark or too-light eyebrows and want to match their eyebrows to their hair colour (me, me, ME!). I got it for S$7.70 (free Korea normal airmail) on Qoo10! There are 5 shades available - #1 Rich Brown, #2 Light Brown, #3 Red Brown, #4 Natural Brown and #5 Blondie Brown.

As you can see in the photo above, my eyebrows look significantly lighter. They match my hair colour perfectly and overall, my face looks less harsh when I have this product applied.

It lasts an entire day without touch-ups (brilliant!) and the product does not melt under extremely hot/huid weather.

The Etude House Color My Brows has certainly become a staple in my life! Love it!!

Review: Etude House Play Nail Colour (#10, #23, #27, #36, #81, #98)

Do I need more nailpolishes? Nope, definitely not.
Do I want more nailpolishes? YES, PLEASE!

It's crazy. I have two boxes of nailpolishes already and I still don't want to stop my purchases because there are so many brands and varieties and pretty colours out there! How to stop?! You teach me how!!

I saw these Etude House Play Nail Colours on Qoo10 and since they're retailing for S$2.50 each, I decided to just cart 6 of them! They have 100 different colours - not getting more than 6 is already a miracle. If you haven't realised it yet, I'm justifying (more like over-justifying) my impulse purchase every single time. Oops?

Here are the 3 links to all 100 colours:

I purchased 6 colours, of which 2 are very similar. I expected them to be different, but the slight difference can only be seen under sunlight. In a poorly lit room, they both look exactly the same. Oh well ~~

Here are the 6 colours that I purchased, in ascending numerical order:
  • #10 - A highlighter coral pink
  • #23 - A muted reddish pink
  • #27 - A slightly muted berry red (this looks really similar to #10)
  • #36 - A basic nude colour
  • #81 - A very glossy aquamarine blue
  • #98 - A muted dark grey
My personal favourite colour has got to be #23. Photos below!

#27 - This applies evenly and did not streak. It's a bright colour but not something that will garner too much unwanted attention. A great colour for the weekends/for the beach!
#98 - I love this muted dark grey colour. It applies evenly and streaking was minimal. I wear a lot of blacks and greys so this is a good match when I'm feeling less adventurous.
#36 - It's a gorgeous shade but so frustrating to apply! It's generally more difficult to formulate a nude colour and it's obvious Etude House faced some problems in the process, and sadly didn't address those problems. The above photo was taken after 3 applications and each application was streaky and left uneven patches.
#81 - This colour reminds me of a lighter version of Essie's Mesmerize. I love how striking the aquamarine blue shade is and it's a definite head turner. Application was a little challenging because the brush tends to grab onto more product than it should, hence application can be a little bit gloppy. It's strange how only this shade has such a brush...
#10 - Oh man this is such a loud colour! It definitely will add a lot of pizzazz to someone who likes to dress themselves in monochromatic colours.  Application was fuss-free and very even.
#23 - My utmost favourite colour of the bunch. It's such a work-appropriate shade! I love how the mutedness adds a little bit of feminity. This had the best application and the best longevity. I had this on for 6 days and it only chipped a little on the 5th day! For S$2.50, this is an excellent buy!

All these Etude House Play Nail Colours have different textures, different brushes and all applies differently - Etude House definitely did not do a good job in terms of consistency of these nail polishes.

However, one consistent factor will be how long-lasting the nail polishes are. I wore them all for at least 4 days and only the highlighter pink (#10) chipped on the 3rd day; the rest survived the 4 days with no chipping.

Will I buy it again? I'm excited to try other colours. For S$2.50 each, it's a bargain. If you're lucky enough, you may get a shade that's performing much better than expensive ones!

Have a great weekend guys and hope this has been useful!

Review: Etude House Proof 10 Mascara

Oh my goodness, this review took me so long to write?! It's quite ridiculous how many drafts I have right now. So many pending blogposts and so few are out! My bad guys, my bad. I'm back on my blogging track, FAST AND FURIOUS. This is my 3rd post of the day, super fast and furious!!

The Etude House Proof 10 Mascara is currently one of my favourite mascaras (the other one being Maybelline Rocket mascara which I will review very soon). It's the mascara that I will grab for travelling because of how easily removeable it is!

I got it during the Etude House Warehouse Sale for a really cheap price (definitely not more than $10). You can purchase it at Etude House stores nationwide, but I will advise against that because you can get it for so much cheaper on Qoo10.

Qoo10 Link 2 (new mascara!! I want!!)

First of all, the external packaging already looks promising. The mascara is super waterproof that you dip your head in water and it will still look fine - at least that's what I'm getting from the all-blue packaging. Yay for waterproof mascaras!

Anyway, a little sidetrack, do you know that if you want your eyelashes to hold the curl longer, you should use a waterproof mascara? The formula for these mascaras are thicker and this seals the eyelashes into place. However if you have sensitive eyes, I will recommend you to stay away from waterproof mascaras because most of them are a bitch to remove. You end up scrubbing your eyes till they go red and it's not a pleasant experience.

Back to the review!

The Etude House Proof 10 Mascara will give you a

"clean, intense definition for a long lasting, perfect 10 smoky eye look."

Not sure about the smoky effect, but Etude House Proof 10 Mascara definitely delivered in terms of longevity and intensity.

Ingredients List

Product packaging: I love it. It looks like an elongated nail polish (chuckle, I don't know where this description came from). Somehow the packaging reminds me of The Little Mermaid? Why?! But yes, beautiful packaging indeed.

Mascara brush: The Etude House Proof 10 Mascara has a slightly bent wand with full, sturdy bristles. It's very reminiscent of an eyebrow brush, but much better in terms of control because of the slight angle. I love my mascara to have full, thick bristles because I'd rather go for volume than length. So this mascara scores highly in terms of brush design.

First coat of Etude House Proof 10 Mascara

First coat of Etude House Proof 10 Mascara

Second coat of Etude House Proof 10 Mascara

Second coat of Etude House Proof 10 Mascara

Application: To be honest, I made a mess when I used this mascara for the first time. I wasn't used to the slightly bent design, so I accidentally smudged a lot of mascara under my eyes. FAIL. But after that, I paid more attention to what I was doing and I didn't have similar mishaps moving forward.

Volumising?: Yes. Definitely. One coat of the Etude House Proof 10 Mascara already provided me with ample volume (see photos above). The second coat gave my eyelashes that extra oomph and I was ready to go! Love it! I will suggest to stop at the second coat though because as you can see in some areas of my lashes, clumps are starting to form. The clumps are easy to get rid of if you have an eyelash brush, but well keeping application at two coats will make life easier. No need to use eyelash brush, save time!

Waterproof?: YES SIR. I actually cried on one of the nights I had this on my eyelashes (and UD Zero on my eyelid), and I had ZERO smudging. None. Quite impressive!

Super washable?: Here's the thing about waterproof mascaras that bothers me to death - some of them are so freaking hard to take off/remove? I used an oil-based makeup remover on makeup cleansing wipes, and I still couldn't get all of the gunk out of my eyelashes. I'm also at an age whereby tugging and rubbing your eyes constantly will have detrimental outcomes (aka wrinkles, boohoo), so I hate it when I can't the mascara out!!! The Etude House Proof 10 Mascara is a different story. It actually feels like a non-waterproof mascara during the removal process - easy and effortless. Using warm water helps too!

This is very much unlike my newly acquired CoverGirl waterproof mascara which kills my eyes every time I try to remove it. I don't know whether I should do a review on that or not. I don't really want to get that mascara on my eyelashes :S.

Longevity: It's very long-lasting. But I'm not wowed by the fact that it's long-lasting because waterproof mascaras are supposed to be long-lasting right? So okay, met my expectations.

Will I buy this again? Oh yes. I'm actually running out of this at the moment. It's quite sad. So I'm contemplating between getting this or getting the new Etude House Proof 10 mascaras, or maybe get both? TEEHEE

Hope this has been useful. Have a great day guys!! :)

Review: Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat

Finally back on track!

This post will be all about my favourite mascara base to date - the Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat.

I bought it during the Etude House Warehouse Sale last year (for around S$5?) and wow I'm now tempted to repurchase because I'm running out of this tube of amazingness.

It retails in Etude House stores nationwide for ... a lot of money. I'm sorry, but I don't believe in buying S.Korean skincare/beauty products in stores in Singapore. Prices are jacked up and sometimes you don't get the free samples that you are entitled to. I sound like a spoilt brat. Let me explain myself. When you but skincare/beauty products in S.Korea, they will shower you with lots and lots of free samples, even if you buy only one item! Hence, for a S.Korea skincare/beauty outlet in Singapore, it should stand by this giving-free-samples policy right? CONSISTENCY. But no, I once purchased a huge container of moisturiser (over S$25), and I didn't have a single free sample?! I don't expect free samples from Watsons because hey, it's not in their company policy to give out free samples mah.

Okay rant over. HAHA.

Next best place to get this either than during a Warehouse Sale? Qoo10!!

I have two links for the Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat:
  1. http://list.qoo10.sg/item/ETUDE-HOUSE-OH-MY-EYE-LASH-MASCARA/404076737
  2. http://list.qoo10.sg/item/SWEET-BOX-OH-MY-EYE-LASH-MASCARA/404220871
Review time!!

Packaging: Straightforward and fuss-free. The mascara base packaging looks really old but that's a combination of my lighting and ... it being quite old. I paid S$5 for this so I didn't expect a new product. It was manufactured in late 2012 though, so all's good!

The Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat promises to:

  • enhance the volume
  • enhance the length of EVERY mascara
  • maximize the effect of mascara
Has it delivered on all 3 accounts? Most definitely.

Ingredients List
I realised the two photos after this is a bit eeky. SORRY GUYS! I assure you that the brush is not that yellow in real life! I don't know what happened with the lighting!

There's a yellow tinge, but not as pigmented as in these photos. Gosh.

Brush design: A standard mascara brush with a firm mascara wand. The bristles are not very condensed, but still condensed enough to separate the lashes. I hate it when bristles are not plastic and very condensed - a clumpy nightmare.

Volumising and Lengthening? Personally, it's more lengthening than volumising with this product. I also like how it doesn't clump the lashes no matter how many coats I apply. Sometimes, I just want to load up on mascara base so that after mascara application, I look like I've fake lashes on. However, the process can be a headache when you use a clumpy mascara base that dries way too quickly. You get thick ugly lashes that are almost impossible to separate. NOT GOOD. The Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat separates really well no matter how many coats I use!

Defines EVERY lash? I'm so impressed with the Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat because it honestly really defines every single lash! After one application, I could see all my lashes coated with the white base, even those teeny tiny inner ones! Great, great job.

Works well with mascara? I have used this mascara base with almost all of my favourite mascaras and I promise no placebo effect happened - all my mascaras worked better! They are all already my favourite mascaras, but with this Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat as a foundation, I see better-looking lashes. Just wow! Oh, one more thing: I love how gradual the drying process is. Some mascara bases dry almost as soon as you apply and you get thick, straight lashes after you apply your mascara. With this, you are able to control the curve of the lashes while applying mascara because it doesn't dry as quickly! LOVE IT.

Will I buy it again? Oh yes, yes, YES! I cannot go a day without the Etude House Oh~ m'Eye Lash Petticoat and it shows because I have run out! Time to get a new one!

Hope this review has been useful! Have a great week ahead guys! :)
