Delicious Thai Food at Golden Mile Complex

Will you be able to find one of the best Thai eateries in Singapore at Golden Mile Complex? DUH, that place's well known for being the "Little Thailand" in Singapore.

As we walked to find the restaurant that Li Rong recommended, we walked past Thai discos, and also a magazine stand that SOLELY sells Thai magazines (you will see Vivi magazine too, got me all excited, but after a closer look, it's Vivi Thailand. HAHAHA).

I'm going to kick myself in the butt right now for not remembering the name of this Thai gem. It's located well inside the building, you can't see it from the front at all and you need to just find the Thai restaurant that's well hidden in the left corner of the building (1st floor!).

Ah Loy has some competition, especially the Phad Thai!

But of course, no Thai food is complete without Tom Yum!

It wasn't the best. I think Ah Loy has better Tom Yum. Best Tom Yum in my opinion comes from Jane Thai at Orchard Towers!

This Phad Thai was MAJOR INCREDIBLE. The serving is not very big (I think it was S$5?) but every bite was so precious. Springy noodles with the standard to-die-for Phad Thai flavour. Officially the best Phad Thai I have ever eaten. And so much vegetables too! PLUS POINTS!

We also ordered Beef Basil Rice to share, and siao, this is damn spicy. They cook the beef with chilli padi, UNSEEDED.

It's only for people who loves spicy food. No, people who loves extra spicy food. It's like biting fresh chili padi. Crazy spicy. BUT VERY GOOD AND SO ADDICTIVE! :D

Good dish for the Indonesian in me who always crave butthole-pain spicy food.

Beef noodles was good too! Small serving (S$4), but the broth packs a punch of flavour. It's crazy how much flavour you get in such a tiny bowl!

THE STAR OF THE NIGHT. MANGO WITH STICKY RICE. This is the best version I have ever eaten. I remember I ate the same desert at Ah Loy once, and I got SOUR MANGOES. Such a downer. But this was too good. Fresh, sweet mangoes, with really good sticky rice. Sometimes the sticky rice will come nua, BUT THIS IS SO GOOD. ZOMG. I CAN EAT PLATES AND PLATES OF THIS!

Mediocre red ruby. This is just plain sweet and coconut-y.

Obviously I don't aspire to be a food blogger. I'm so terrible with describing food, everything is "delicious" and "awesome" for me. HAHAHAHA.

But PLEASE just go to Golden Mile Complex for some good Thai food. Ah Loy has competition!! :D

Haul: Cotton On shoes and accessories

Lot One's Cotton On is having a double sale! There's an instore sale and there's also a sale going on at the middle square of the shopping centre!

I think Cotton On is one of those brands whereby you cannot stick to a single outlet if you want to enjoy maximum capacity awesomeness. I always check out 3 to 4 Cotton On outlets in heartland malls during sale periods and all of them have different items on sale! :D

Avoid those outlets in town and city area though, they rarely have sales there!

I bought all these for less than S$15. Crazy bargain. OK, technically ky paid for most of the items. HAHAHAHAHA.

This pair of orange bandage sandals for S$7.50. It was originally S$19.95!

Best buy from Cotton On EVER. I have been looking for a comfortable, yet flattering pair of flats for those lazy days. Also, I'm currently obsessed with tiny floral prints. AND I FOUND THIS PAIR FOR 5 FREAKING BUCKS. Are you serious!??!!??! OF COURSE TAKE!!! This is a size too big for me, BUT ALAMAK WHO CARES I'M BUYING A 5-BUCK PAIR OF COMFY FLATS.

Original price - S$14.95 (already very affordable!)

So pretty.... great buy!!

Also bought this random group of bracelets for S$2! :D Original price: S$4.95!

I completely hate it when people say, "oh, Cotton On sell things very expensive, quality not there also..." Excuse me hor, you don't want to wait for sale, how you get things cheap? Of course you will find them expensive lar. Also, quality not there? I have Cotton On skirts that I bought more than 3 years ago and they are still awesome. Your skin too rough is it? You also need to know how to choose what. If a product is visibly of worse quality, will you buy it? No, obviously. Does Cotton On only sell low-quality products? Also no. You just need to know how to find.

OH DEAR DEAR ME.

Haul: Cologne Mists and Body Sprays from Indonesia!

When I go back to Indonesia, I only do these things:
  • Sleep like crazy
  • Spend a lot of time in the car because nb EVERYWHERE ALSO JAM.
  • Eat delicacies from roadside stalls (If you didn't get diarrhoea, it means you didn't enjoy the best food from Indonesia. All that good food worth a day on the toilet bowl lar.)
  • Buy all sorts of Indomie flavours (each packet 20 cents).
  • Stock up on lingerie (confirm on sale)
  • Buy all sorts of body sprays and cologne mists (each can be as little as 80 cents, maximum also 2 bucks only)
So of course, I did all of them when I went to Pontianak last weekend! I have 3 weeks worth of instant noodles ready for some nomming.

AND I WENT CRAZY with the body sprays. I could have bought more buy my luggage space restricted me. ARGH. My habit is to see a nice bottle/ a nice brand, and then get all the available choices.

Siaodingdong xiaomeimei who always disturb me since she sits next to me. But without her, my office life will be mundane and non-existent, so yay to dora!

Lovely girls in office who certainly made a difference! And yay to Lisa (most left) who just joined the company! This girl is so funky and fashionable I don't even know how to start praising her! Just in awe of what she wears to work everyday!

Review: Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Gel Eyeliner

Eyeliner is something that you will ALWAYS find in my makeup bag. Without eyeliner, I look like a kid and my eyes are twice smaller. Hence, this warrants me to keep searching for the ultimate holy grail eyeliners. I have found quite a few but once I used them up, I would prefer to search for a new brand to try!

Also, you have so many types of eyeliners, i.e. pencil, gel, liquid, etc etc etc, in which I very much prefer either pencil or gel. Liquid eyeliners are (in my opinion) good for people who are blessed with steady hands. Sometimes in the lazy and drowsy mornings, I can't even wear my shoes properly, how can I apply liquid eyeliners perfectly?! Hence, I always turn to pencil or gel eyeliners for maximum control!

In this post, I'm very excited to review this new found gem. IT IS A MIRACLE PRODUCT! :D

Product: Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Gel Eyeliner (it's Japanese so pardon the eccentric brand name)

Colour: Deep Black

Price: I bought it online for S$8 (eBay!!), but if you really wanna find it in stores, it's available at SASA for S$21.90.

First Impressions: As with all Japanese cosmetic products, packaging is always immaculate and pretty. This is of no exception. It's not as cutesy or princessy as most Japanese brands, but it's slick enough and informative enough to tell the customers it will do its job well.

All in Japanese ~~

I don't even know why I took this photos. HAHA.

Product packaging: The size of this gel eyeliner is similar to its counterparts in the market. What made me a little disappointed was how much of the product I really get. The container itself looks huge, but when you look sideways, the ratio of product to glass is almost (or less than) 50:50. In a way, it made me feel a little bit cheated (who doesn't want more product right? especially an awesome one like this!), but after some thinking, I realised it's a good move after all.

Gel eyeliners dry up REALLY QUICKLY, especially in humid air (they separate quicker too. ew.), and so by giving you less product, technically they want you to use less of a good quality product, rather than give you more and then before you are half done, you get dried up eyeliner. Not good.

So yay Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Gel Eyeliner makers!

Brush: I have never been disappointed by the brushes that came together with gel eyeliners, and this was no exception. Fine tapered brush, well-designed to suit a thin eyeliner look, or a thick eyeliner look. No qualms about the brush. It does what it's supposed to do, and I'm happy with that!

A word of advice though, after you apply your eyeliner, it will be good to use a decent makeup remover to remove the junk that's left on the brush. I waited till at night and it was a nightmare to remove because of the staying power of the eyeliner!

Pigmentation: Very black, very pigmented. I'm a very happy girl. :D

Smudge factor: The trick to this gel eyeliner, is to apply, look downwards for a good 20 seconds, and then  TADAH YOU HAVE GOOD STURDY EYELINER THAT WON'T BUDGE. Many people actually said this smudged rather badly on them, but that's only because they tried to meddle with it right after application!

Patience is a virtue!!

See what I did there? I rubbed across my hand right after I applied it, and true enough the wetter parts had some smudging going on.

I was surprised the other parts got dry so quickly though!

This is after a good ten minutes (ya, I forgot completely about it haha), and I tried rubbing once, NOT MOVING AT ALL. So I challenged it further; I ran it under running water, and rubbed again. STILL NOT MOVING.

How amazing is this non-smudge-ability?!!

Staying power: No complaints in this department also because the eyeliner survived me a full day at work, and still not budging at all! SIAODINGDONG!

Removal: Despite its industrial-level staying power, it came off quite easily with a good makeup remover. I didn't need to pull my eyelids or rub my eyes vigorously for it to come off! VERY GOOD FOR WRINKLES PREVENTION!

Some photos of me using the VERY AWESOME EYELINER!

It's very smooth and very easy to apply! For those who love a winged eyeliner look, the brush also makes it SO MUCH easier! :D

Will I buy it again? YES! :D I shall find it when I'm in Hong Kong (SASA's cheaper in Hong Kong), but if I can't find it, time to give the local SASA stores a visit! OH! Apparently the packaging changed already or something? I'm not very sure, but well a name like Heavy Rotation won't be that easy to miss right?
