Eyeliner is something that you will ALWAYS find in my makeup bag. Without eyeliner, I look like a kid and my eyes are twice smaller. Hence, this warrants me to keep searching for the ultimate holy grail eyeliners. I have found quite a few but once I used them up, I would prefer to search for a new brand to try!
Also, you have so many types of eyeliners, i.e. pencil, gel, liquid, etc etc etc, in which I very much prefer either pencil or gel. Liquid eyeliners are (in my opinion) good for people who are blessed with steady hands. Sometimes in the lazy and drowsy mornings, I can't even wear my shoes properly, how can I apply liquid eyeliners perfectly?! Hence, I always turn to pencil or gel eyeliners for maximum control!
In this post, I'm very excited to review this new found gem. IT IS A MIRACLE PRODUCT! :D
Product: Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Gel Eyeliner (it's Japanese so pardon the eccentric brand name)
Colour: Deep Black
Price: I bought it online for S$8 (eBay!!), but if you really wanna find it in stores, it's available at SASA for S$21.90.
First Impressions: As with all Japanese cosmetic products, packaging is always immaculate and pretty. This is of no exception. It's not as cutesy or princessy as most Japanese brands, but it's slick enough and informative enough to tell the customers it will do its job well.
All in Japanese ~~
I don't even know why I took this photos. HAHA.
Product packaging: The size of this gel eyeliner is similar to its counterparts in the market. What made me a little disappointed was how much of the product I really get. The container itself looks huge, but when you look sideways, the ratio of product to glass is almost (or less than) 50:50. In a way, it made me feel a little bit cheated (who doesn't want more product right? especially an awesome one like this!), but after some thinking, I realised it's a good move after all.
Gel eyeliners dry up REALLY QUICKLY, especially in humid air (they separate quicker too. ew.), and so by giving you less product, technically they want you to use less of a good quality product, rather than give you more and then before you are half done, you get dried up eyeliner. Not good.
So yay Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Gel Eyeliner makers!
Brush: I have never been disappointed by the brushes that came together with gel eyeliners, and this was no exception. Fine tapered brush, well-designed to suit a thin eyeliner look, or a thick eyeliner look. No qualms about the brush. It does what it's supposed to do, and I'm happy with that!
A word of advice though, after you apply your eyeliner, it will be good to use a decent makeup remover to remove the junk that's left on the brush. I waited till at night and it was a nightmare to remove because of the staying power of the eyeliner!
Pigmentation: Very black, very pigmented. I'm a very happy girl. :D
Smudge factor: The trick to this gel eyeliner, is to apply, look downwards for a good 20 seconds, and then TADAH YOU HAVE GOOD STURDY EYELINER THAT WON'T BUDGE. Many people actually said this smudged rather badly on them, but that's only because they tried to meddle with it right after application!
Patience is a virtue!!
See what I did there? I rubbed across my hand right after I applied it, and true enough the wetter parts had some smudging going on.
I was surprised the other parts got dry so quickly though!
This is after a good ten minutes (ya, I forgot completely about it haha), and I tried rubbing once, NOT MOVING AT ALL. So I challenged it further; I ran it under running water, and rubbed again. STILL NOT MOVING.
How amazing is this non-smudge-ability?!!
Staying power: No complaints in this department also because the eyeliner survived me a full day at work, and still not budging at all! SIAODINGDONG!
Removal: Despite its industrial-level staying power, it came off quite easily with a good makeup remover. I didn't need to pull my eyelids or rub my eyes vigorously for it to come off! VERY GOOD FOR WRINKLES PREVENTION!
Some photos of me using the VERY AWESOME EYELINER!
It's very smooth and very easy to apply! For those who love a winged eyeliner look, the brush also makes it SO MUCH easier! :D
Will I buy it again? YES! :D I shall find it when I'm in Hong Kong (SASA's cheaper in Hong Kong), but if I can't find it, time to give the local SASA stores a visit! OH! Apparently the packaging changed already or something? I'm not very sure, but well a name like Heavy Rotation won't be that easy to miss right?
