Secret Garden

A few months ago, someone shared the story of Johanna Basford on facebook. Back then, I was highly intrigued by how she penned (like really "penned" because she drew EVERYTHING herself) a colouring book for adults. Some described the colouring process to be a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing one, and it really seemed interesting. As interesting as it is, I didn't want to own one because I didn't think I needed such a book. Fast forward a few months later.... I bought the book. This has resided permanently on my work desk, together with my many markers and colouring pencils, and honestly the reviews were accurate. Every single time I feel immensely stressed out, I whip this magical book out and spend a good 10-15 minutes colouring away, and the experience's always bordering on therapeutic. But then again, I believe I will be over 30 years old when I finally finish colouring the entire book.

I also recently did a very tiring wardrobe cleansing. Spring cleaning my closet is not something that I enjoy doing, but it has to be done because I couldn't close the cupboard doors properly ah. So, I sold my stuff on Carousell and so far response has been positive and overwhelming. Highly because I sold my items for so cheap. This clean-out has left quite a commendable amount of space in my wardrobe and so now I'm eager to get new things. 旧的不去,新的不來! (Non-Chinese speakers - this just means if you don't get rid of the old, how do you welcome the new?)

I have thought it through thoroughly (wah this phrase was strangely shiok to write haha) and I think I have a few items that I really need in my collection. I searched for so many cross-body bags, shift dresses and ballet flats online! It's time to get nice, high-quality ones that will last. Taobao products are great because they are so cheap, but most of the time, they don't last. Shall wait for my pay to come in to revamp my wardrobe!

Phew, this turned out to be quite a chit-chatty post.

A couple of eyeshadow palettes and a couple of lip products reviews coming soon!

Have a great week ahead!

Need: NYX Intense Butter Gloss

NYX, your lip products game is too well-played.

They launched the NYX Intense Butter Gloss a few months back and I'm attracted to SO MANY shades.

The great thing is, NYX always has amazingly affordable price points, so I can buy multiple shades at once without feeling like I've been robbed.

The above swatch video is from the gorgeous BeautywithEmilyFox. She does amazing swatch videos and I love supporting smaller YouTube channels because their contents are very much sincere and less profit-oriented.

BUT YES...

Here are the colours that I need to buy ASAP:
  • Tres Leche (nude mauve pink)
  • Toasted Marshmallow (deep chocolate red with a tinge of purple)
  • Funnel Delight (bright fuchsia pink)
  • Orangesicle (bright orange)
... then they have the High Voltage Lipsticks and I still want to collect more of their Soft Matte Lip Creams.

Just take all my money lah!!!!

Want: HARNN Cymbopogon Hand Cream

The HARNN Cymbopogon Hand Cream is my new favourite hand cream. It smells so refreshing and it eliminates your fatigue! The only downside is it's kind of expensive - S$45 for 100g on Luxola.

My colleague gave me some samples and this hand cream is simply divine. Absorbs like a dream, no stickiness at all, and it smells soooooooooooo good.

It smells like a very tangy lemon candy. The HARNN Cymbopogon Hand Cream has both lemongrass and lavender scents and I think the lemongrass really kicks away your tiredness. I always apply some in the morning and I don't feel sleepy anymore?! Better than coffee lor.

Also, I love how fast it gets absorbed. The ultimate test to how fast it gets absorbed is when I go to the toilet 10 minutes after application. I dread going to the toilet after applying hand cream because when you wash your hands, you get that weird soapy slippery feeling. With this, NO SUCH THING. The cream's completely absorbed!! VERY EXCELLENT.

I really want this. But urgh, why so expensive?! I can only rely on samples now. Meh.

Want: MAC Diva & MAC Media Lipsticks

I don't know what's up with me nowadays. I just want to buy dark-coloured lippies?! It's even more queer because I don't even apply lipsticks before I go out. Maybe buying the two lipsticks below will motivate me to try out vampy lip colours? :D

I think a vampy lip with a heavily-mascaraed nude eye will look perfect! Ok, ok, I need to try!!

Yes to MAC Media or MAC Diva or both? Heehee.

Forever 21 is testing my shopping ban ...

This Forever 21 is tempting me like people tempting a donkey with a carrot. Or like using honey to get Winnie The Pooh out of his bed.

Seriously, why all so nice?! ;-; Crying in despair because emptying my bank account significantly for all these items is quite stupid. I shall just share my struggle with my blog readers. HAIS.

Go-To Combat Boots (US$39.80)

(X)
If I get them all, it's going to cost me US$424.40, and that's before shipping to Singapore. But that will be around US$23.6 approximately per item. AIYOH SUCH TERRIBLE LEMMINGS ON A SUNDAY.

Sometimes, I really want to be born filthy rich.

Anyway, I won TOTO for the first time ever! Not a significant amount lah, but still I've never won TOTO in my life before. Yay!

Latest obsession: Urban Decay Naked3 Palette

My brain has been telling me - go get the Naked 2 soon! - and yes I was almost sure that I would be getting it for Christmas this year (actually it seems like I'm getting myself a lot of things for Christmas this year). Then, Urban Decay dropped this bomb. The gorgeous Naked3 Palette will be out very very soon. Initially, I thought it was just a plain rumour and that the photos that I saw roaming around Googleland were just of fake palettes from China. Today, I saw JulieGBeauty's tweet on the palette, and then I saw Temptalia's posts on it. That was when I realised, "CRAP. THIS IS REAL."

Let me now present to you the beauty that is Urban Decay Naked3 Palette.

(via Musings of a Muse)

(via Temptalia)

(via Temptalia)

Before I start on my paragraph on how badly I need this in my no-need-makeup-already life, here are some posts that you may want to check out to find out more about the breathtakingly, jaw-droppingly, amazingly, desirably, exquisitely, yes you get my point right, gorgeous palette. Temptalia already reviewed this and she have two excellent posts up. Talk about efficient.

Temptalia (Review + Swatches): http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-naked3-eyeshadow-palette-review-photos-swatches
Temptalia (Comparison against Naked and Naked2): http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-naked3-eyeshadow-palette-swatch-comparisons

OK. Don't talk cock already.

This needs to be in my life. Do I need another eye palette? Perhaps not. Do I need this eye palette? Most definitely. A beauty addict's brain works in an amusingly strange way.

First of all, the metal casing is not any ordinary metal casing, but a ROSE-GOLD metal casing. If you are like me and you have been watching YouTube beauty/fashion gurus' videos since 2007/2008, then you will know that there is an OBSESSION with rose-gold everything. Maybe I used to hate this colour in the past, but after years and years of YouTube videos, I have become completely sucked into the world of rose-gold marketing (the other colour is mint green! Stop it YouTube gurus!!). Hence, this palette fulfills my need for a cleverly packaged cosmetic product.

Next, look at the range of colours Urban Decay is offering in this palette. The colours are more different to the original Naked than those in the Naked2 are. The reason why it took me so long to convince myself to get the Naked2 was because the colours are so similar. Some shades in my Naked palette don't even have a dent in them, so how can I purchase another palette with almost similar shades right? Naked3 is, thankfully, a palette that is visibly different. I'm quite sure many Urban Decay fans will appreciate this kind gesture. This palette consists of rose-hued neutrals (hence the casing, getit getit?) and the usual suspects. It still has the taupes, browns and beiges but the pinks and plums add to the variety and usability of the product. Moreover, there are so many gorgeous matte shades included! From the swatches, the matte shades look AMAZINGLY PIGMENTED (I need to bring your attention to Limit and Nooner. GORGEOUS.). See how this palette fulfills my need for a palette that complements my Naked palette?

Also, all 12 shades are TOTALLY NEW.

I cannot take it. I MUST GET IT. The list of Christmas gifts to get for myself has been edited this morning (especially after I read Temptalia's post) - that pair of Superga can wait. Urban Decay Naked3 Palette is number one priority.

Now, I can predict a problem.... will this run out as soon as it's launched in Singapore? This prediction brings fear to my veins. I need to call Sephora soon.

WISH ME LUCK GUYS. GET YOURS TOO!

I need to get my hands on the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette!!!

Urban Decay better stop tempting me with all these amazing product launches!! I have always been obsessed with Urban Decay eye products, and every single time they launch a new eye product, my heart does a little dance, and then it dies a little because my brain refuses to convince myself to get it.

I decided to skip on the Urban Decay Vice Palette and I was about to forget the sorrow when Urban Decay launches Vice 2. ARGH. It doesn't help that all the major beauty bloggers around the world have got their hands on this baby and they all have glorious swatches on their blogs. Sigh.

So I have decided that, perhaps, I really need the Vice 2 Palette?

To be really honest, I have too many eyeshadows. I think I have enough eyeshadows to last me for many many many lifetimes. That's why I keep stopping myself from buying more!

Maybe I need to make an exception. ARGH HOW TELL ME WHAT SHOULD I DO. :(

The Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette has nice packaging, humongous mirror, GORGEOUS shades (and all 20 shades are ALL NEW shades), unique opening button (you press and the case slowly opens WOW) and a legit double-ended, cruelty-free (YAY!) shadow/crease brush.

How can I pass this up right?!?!?! OH! And this is also limited edition. OMG another reason to buy!

Just look at the photos. JUST LOOK.

All photos taken from the wonderful Urban Decay website.

There are so many swatches floating around the internet, but I still love love love Temptalia's post on this.

Do visit these links for her amazing swatches!

Urban Decay Vice 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
Urban Decay Vice 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)

My favourite shades at the moment are Smokeout, Stash, Radar (!!! GORGEOUS !!!), Damaged, Betrayal, Toxic and Ambush. Rewind is a freaking legit matte brown shade too! OMG I NEED THIS PALETTE LAH. :'(

It retails for S$88 at Sephora!

Any of you guys loving this too? Which are your favourite shades? Do let me know and we can go gaga together heeheeeee.

Want! - Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Vault (40 Colours!!)

How are these not incredible and breathtaking? I want ALL OF THEM. I WANT THE VAULT.

Problem is, the set costs US$295 and it's a limited edition set. I'm beyond depressed.

Urban Decay, I hope you release this set again in the coming future. By then I'll be working and I'll HAVE THE MONEY TO SPARE.

Pretty please?

Want: Maybelline The Magnum Volum' Express Cat Eyes Mascara

I recently saw the TV advertisement for the Maybelline The Magnum Volum' Express Cat Eyes Mascara and I was HOOKED. I need it in my life and I need no justifications. I have too many mascara but having one more doesn't hurt! Having one more great one is terrific! The problem is why is it S$20.90? It's not that I can't afford it, but I can't bear to spend that amount of money on a drugstore product! If I topped up a few more dollars, I can buy a high-end mascara already!

I really don't get drugstore pricing in Singapore. I hope they have this in Malaysia/Indonesia soon so I can purchase mine there!

Maybelline The Magnum Volum' Express Cat Eyes Mascara, I need you in my life!!!!

I'm quite a collector when it comes to Maybelline's Volum' Express line of mascaras. I have 3 currently, The Colossal Volum' Express, The Magnum Volum' Express Waterproof and The One by One Volum' Express. I LOVE ALL OF THEM! Can't wait to get my hands on this new and exciting one. CAT EYES! :D

Here's the TV ad that caught my attention. In the ad, they are promoting another mascara that's similar (The Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes).

What do you guys think? Should I get this mascara ASAP? :D

Worth my money: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream and NYX Xtreme Lip Cream

I do not like lip products but the weird idiosyncrasy (I realised this does not make sense because an idiosyncrasy is already peculiar, but whatever, DOUBLE THE EFFECT.) does not stop me from salivating over amazing lip products like the two below. NYX is really killing it with all these stellar products that are coupled with wallet-friendly prices!

I know Smoochiezz sells them, so next time I'm in the Smoochiezz warehouse or the Tanjong Pagar Xchange booth, I will grab some!

The first one is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. I know Huiling has a couple and she raves about them (http://www.thatfeeling.sg/2012/07/nyx-soft-matte-lip-cream-in-san-paulo.html). I have been intrigued for so long, and I really need to make the plunge huh?

Even temptalia recommends it, so I REALLY NEED TO GET SOME!

Some swatches I found on the nyxcosmetics website. I really fancy Monte Carlo, Stockholm and San Paulo!
Photo taken from nyxcosmetics.com

Another NYX lip product that I just discovered and deeply want in my collection is the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream. This product promises a velvety finish while still giving a full-on pigmentation on your lips that lasts. SIGN ME UP PLEASE.

The colour range for the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream is more extreme than the Soft Matte Lip Cream range. I especially like Spicy, Buttery Nude and Bonfire.

I really don't like nude shades because they make me look like I just woke up from my coffin, and I'm still on the fence about hot pink lipsticks. Personally, I think hot pink suits girls with a darker skin tone more, but then again the debate about cool tone pink and warm tone pink will start and I'll be caught in the middle. Argh.

But yes, cool tone red is my friend, and so I need some cool tone red lipsticks!

TIME TO DROP BY SMOOCHIEZZ! :D

H&M Fashion Against AIDS Collection (Out 27th April 2012)

The upcoming H&M Fashion Against AIDS Collection is simply too stunning for me to not notice it and to not buy anything from it. It's on a whole new level, and the prices are all surprisingly affordable. DOUBLE the attraction!

Luoer had media invites for the launch party at Tanjong Beach Club on Thursday and she was very very nice to ask if I can be her +1, but of course LUCK HAS RARELY BEEN ON MY SIDE - I have too much work to do on Thursday and rushing down to Sentosa from Lorong Chuan by 7pm is impossible. :'(

I feel my heart sinking... :'(

However, I will still make it a point to go down to the store after work on Friday to see what I can get my hands on. I'm rather disappointed that the tribal-print bralet is NOT AVAILABLE in Singapore, or I assume so because I couldn't find any pricing information on the local website! :(

These are the few (actually quite a lot. oops) things that caught my eye! YAY TO H&M!

THESE LEGGINGS. SUCH DETAILS, ARGH. TO DIE FOR. S$24.90 I believe!

I need to try this pair of shades in-store. I hope they still have it when I'm there on Friday night! *fingers crossed* (S$14.90!)

Pretty bandage skirt for a great price! S$17.90!

This is too pretty. Topshop has similar styles but they are going for S$99 and above. This pair from H&M is S$39.90! I WANT IT!
This is very cute and rather easy-going in terms of how to wear it. Just throw it on over some gorgeous bikini and you are good to go! I believe this is S$24.90?

Another pretty pair of shorts. However H&M shorts and I have no great connection with each other. A size 38 will be tight and a size 40 will be loose. :( I don't remember how much this was, but I think should be in the range of S$35-S$45.

I think this jacket will be the first item to sell out. The front design is the generic FAA (Fashion Against AIDS) design, but the back.. OOH LALA~

THE BACK DESIGN IS SUPER DOPE! I can imagine wearing a really tight black dress underneath this, and then paired with black leather hi-cut sneakers. AMAZING. This retails for S$59.90!

Now comes the problem of this collection - there's only one H&M in Singapore, and A LOT of people are anticipating the arrival of the FAA collection. This means if I do purchase items with the signature FAA print, I'm bound to bump into someone wearing something with a similar print. THE AGONY OF CONFLICTING THOUGHTS. D:
