Staycation at Carlton Hotel

This is a really delayed post. But well... at least it's up now. :P

For Kengyang's 25th birthday this year, I decided to book a room at Carlton Hotel for a staycation. Since it's for a birthday celebration, I spent more by booking a premier club room with club benefits. This way we have access to the Premier Club Lounge for complimentary breakfast, beverages and evening cocktails with hors d’oeuvres, complete with a nice view of the city.

The room was booked via Agoda.com (they were having some kind of reward system going on for Changi Rewards members) and it cost me a total of S$352.28.

Checking in was prompt and I was extremely distracted by this artpiece of a chandelier at the hotel lobby. We had minor issues with our key cards (they didn't activate the elevators at all), but the hotel staff approached was very quick in identifying the problem and providing us with new key cards.

The room was of decent-size. I didn't like the view of our room at all because there were many other buildings blocking the view.

The best part was the toilet. I really like how much space the hotel dedicated to the toilet. If my HDB unit has enough space, I'd really like to have a similar toilet. Maybe I can show this photo to my future interior designer :D

We also spent a lot of time at the Premier Club Lounge. They had a variety of wines and hard liquors and you could request for anything displayed. Th hors d’oeuvres variety was not impressive but those provided were delicious.

The next morning, we also had breakfast at the Premier Club Lounge and man, they served some amazing hot chocolate!!

All in all, a great night out with Kengyang. Was it worth the S$350? Perhaps not. But then again, we paid almost S$300 for a staycation at Studio M and that didn't include any food/drinks at all, so perhaps it was worth the S$350.

The focus of course isn't on the money spent. During all staycations, I spend quality time with Kengyang and that's all that matters right?
