Review: Makeon Princess Gel Pencil Eyeliner Set (Season 3)

My obsession with Korean eyeliners continue! I have had great experiences so far, so I'm always looking forward to trying out eyeliners from new Korean cosmetic brands!

I saw this eyeliner set during a Qoo10 time sale and decided to give it a go. The Makeon Princess Gel Pencil Eyeliner Set came in 3 different variations (they call it "seasons") and it retails for S$12.90 (with additional S$3.90 shipping). For 5 great eyeliners, paying almost S$17 is not bad at all! That's like S$3.40 for each eyeliner. Bargain!

Do note that the eyeliners included in these sets are not full-size ones. These eyeliners are 0.8g each, and then full-size ones are 1.2g each. So not that miniature - you get 2/3 of a full-size eyeliner!

The parcel was delivered very quickly. I think it took less than 4 days? From South Korea to Singapore in less than 4 days is quite an amazing feat! Hence, the S$3.90 shipping is very much justified.

Of course, as with all Korean brands, the parcel will come in packed with your purchase and a myriad of product samples.

Here are the samples that I received. Very generous!

I bought the Makeon Princess Gel Pencil Eyeliner Set in Limited Edition Season 3, and I got this over the other two sets because I'm a sucker for neutral eyeliners. Also, I have way too many black eyeliners, so I didn't want a set that had black eyeliner in it. I liked Season 2 too, but I couldn't see myself sporting purple and blue eyeliners on a regular basis.

Packaging: I love love love both how the eyeliner box looks and how the eyeliners themselves look. The box is obnoxious, but in a good way. It doesn't even look like an eyeliner box. I can use it for future storage or just to decorate my room (I love the muted gold theme for a room, so yes!!). The eyeliners themselves are packaged very simply, with a black cap and adorned with a simple metallic wrapping of the eyeliner colours. However, I have to say that some of the packaging colours don't really match the eyeliner colours - good effort overall though!

These are the 5 eyeliners that were included in the Makeon Princess Gel Pencil Eyeliner Set (Season 3).

Oh! I forgot to mention that the styrofoam that holds the eyeliner is removable! So you can use the pretty box for other storage purposes.

Liner #BS01 - Dark Brown

Liner #BS02 - Glam Brown

Liner #BS03 - Deep Bronze

Liner #BS04 - Blonde

Liner #BS11 - Sunshine

Colours:

  • Dark Brown - a metallic dark brown with little shimmers/glitters
  • Glam Brown - a metallic reddish brown with hints of gold pearl
  • Deep Bronze - a metallic light taupe-brown with little shimmers/glitters
  • Blonde - a metallic gold with some gold and silver shimmer
  • Sunshine - a bold and bright orange with gold flecks.
Pigmentation: These eyeliners have excellent pigmentation. I can't believe I only paid S$3.40 for each of them. Some of my more expensive eyeliners don't even perform as well as these. The eyeliners in the Makeon Princess Gel Pencil Eyeliner Set are pigmented even on first application. Vivid colours and what you see on the pencil is what you will get during application. I hate it when I buy eyeliners, and the colours that I see after application is much lighter than what I see on the pencil. Full marks for these eyeliners in terms of pigmentation!

Application: These eyeliners have very smooth leads. Not as smooth as Urban Decay's but comparable and these are very good dupes if you cannot afford the Urban Decay ones. I don't need to use much pressure when applying the eyeliner because they are so smooth and they apply so effortlessly. Another full marks!

One more thing that I love about these eyeliners is how easy it is to sharpen them. Some eyeliners are a nightmare and the leads will keep breaking off when you sharpen them. These? Easy peasy. Just use a decent eyeliner sharpener (I recommend the Urban Decay one) and you are good to go!

Furthermore, this can be used as an eyeshadow too! You just need to use a smudger brush immediately after drawing a rough line on your eyeline and smudge the line away. The eyeliner is extremely easy to blend when it's not fully dry yet.

Waterproof: Oh yes, most definitely.

Longevity: These eyeliners survived a full day at work with no touch-ups. Impressive. One thing to note though - if you apply this too high up your eyeline and if you have oily lids, then the eyeliner will definitely smudge on you. It will transfer to your upper eyelid area because of the fold between the double eyelids and it's not very nice. You can avoid this by applying eyeshadow primer beforehand and not drawing the line too high up your eyelid. If you have monolid eyes, then no problems for you!

Will I buy it again? Yes. In fact, I did get more colours. HAHA. And these will be reviewed in the next post! Great eyeliners! I want them all!

Hope this has been useful! Have a great day guys - make it better than yesterday! :)
