The Sushi Bar aims to serve high quality Japanese food at affordable pricing, and yes we definitely appreciate this concept. Our food was delicious and really fresh without being too pricey. Good Japanese food has a reputation of being expensive and so this unpretentious restaurant is definitely a great addition to the local Japanese scene!
Frankly, it wasn't the ohmygod-bargain! kind of prices. You cannot expect single-digit figures to be associated with really fresh Chirashi Don right? Some Japanese restaurants sell Chirashi Dons at exorbitant prices like over S$40 for a tiny bowl. Then the tiny voice inside your head will reason things out for you - "it's fresh sashimi, it should be expensive!" - and you start to think that it's okay to pay such a price.
I'm not saying that it's wrong to charge high prices for a really fresh bowl of Chirashi Don. You just can't have it often! Personally, I can eat sashimi ALL DAY so a wallet-friendly Chirashi Don is awesome for me!
Word of warning for those who want to try out this amazing place - please make a reservation. The dinner queue was crazy and we were so glad we had a reservation placed! They only accept recervations for Monday to Friday until 730pm. Visit their facebook page for more details: https://www.facebook.com/thesushibar.sg/info

We decided to share the Salmon Aburi (S$14.90). Each of us had 2 fantastic pieces of this slightly scorched salmon roll.
We also shared the Sirloin Steak (S$14.50 for 100gram). This was so delicious, it was wiped out almost instantly. It's actually reminiscent of my Kobe beef experience in Kobe, Japan, because they had fried garlic at the side too! Of course this was not as groundbreaking as that Kobe beef experience, but it was good enough. I really enjoyed this dish!
Yinghui and I wanted to get the Basic Chirashi Don (S$19.90), but unfortunately it was sold out! However, the waited suggested another type of Don that was not on the menu. Basically, it's like a cheaper version of the Premium Chirashi Don, so Yinghui and I just agreed on it! It was a messy bowl choking full of fresh seafood, and it was FREAKING GOOD. It was the first time I saw Yinghui eat so slowly. HAHA.
Jeremy and Huiling shared the Normal Chirashi Don (S$24.90) and it tasted as good (or even more) as it looked. Look at the glistening Ikura!! :D SLURP.
The Sushi Bar is definitely the place to go if you're looking for high-quality Japanese food but are not willing to part with a copious amount of money. I definitely would like to recommend this place to all my friends!
Remember to make your reservations if you don't want to queue! :)
