Why the September Issue so specifically? For cavemen out there, the September issues of fashion magazines usually mean the start of Fall fashion. Lots of jackets and boots, and every other inventions to keep you warm and chic. For VOGUE's September Issue, it's going to be the biggest and heaviest issue ever. God knows how those fashionistas drag the magazine back.
The movie basically focused on behind-the-scenes of the production of that bumper issue.
Fun facts! =)
- Designers are actually fearful of Anna Wintour, even top-designers. Stefano Pilato, the head designer for Yves Saint Laurent was nervous when he presented his fall collection to Anna. Even Prada has to change its designs because Anna thought the material used for the jackets were too heavy and inaccessible. Don't you love this woman?
- In the fashion world, September is the January. That's where most women slip back to the tallest of all heels and find comfort in the most extravagant jackets and coats. God I love fashion.
- No matter what kind of fashion movie, all of the editors are obsessed with Starbucks. EVERY SINGLE ONE will feature Starbucks. Singapore's Starbucks is bullshit, so I guess the original ones are much better. Ho-hum
- Before an issue is off to be processed in the printing room, all the content is projected on a notebook (a HUGE notebook) page-by-page, line-by-line. It's crazy. 600++ pages of goodness drafted again and again. That's worse than 204.
- This movie also highlights the growth of ThaKoon, the guest designer for GAP. Anna is in love with his designs. HAHA.
- Anna Wintour's daughter wants to do Law. Guess all the VOGUE issues in her humongous house is making her sick.
- Can you believe this? She is actually the person who ignited the trend to put celebrities on the cover of magazines. ooh la la.
Obviously this is not a proper review. Who cares. Fashion's not guided by rules and restrictions, why should a blog post about fashion be then?
eekky feeling. need to wash clothes now!
